fake honey as dyed corn syrup is well known in -all over the world- usa. the others however... ew *edit:* ya'll are right, not in the eu. my thoughts were: it's not honey because it said *"agave syrup"* (which isn't honey btw) or *"monofloral"* . turns out that doesn't mean flower nectar or flower syrup.

It rarely makes it out of China. We have import laws and product testing so we stop it before it gets through. Once in awhile a fake sauce gets through but it's sold in specialized Chinese stores (like you gotta go to Chinatown in New York) and the labels are 100% written in Chinese. It's more of something a small shop orders directly from China that you can't get in any big box stores.

@@elishh8173 It's like expecting to pay for cheap products made in China as consumers. We caused the problem by having high demand for cheap products and cheap meats/fruits/vegetables. As population increases, all the issues that you and OP have pointed out will only become more dire. @@crocket1338 @BlitheApathy Well, humans will eventually all have cancer if we live long enough. Some tumors are benign while othes are malignant being a fine line between serious health issues or just an inconvenience. Our genetics and predisposition to acquiring certain diseases such as cancer, our diet, the foods we eat, and the environment that we're in just add to the probability of acquriing cancer. Little kids that were born with a higher chances of acquiring cancer and they've done nothing wrong to deserve it other than just some messed up mutation that affected cell apoptosis. I think it was extreme to claim that we will deserve cancer from how we treat animals other than yes treating animals better is indeed important, but a different issue altogether. There aren't definitive research to even indicate a connection to cancer rates. At least other factors are far more likely to impact when we will have cancer.

Fun fact: Salmon is often only a very light pink or even a grey color, even when fresh. But people expect the characteristic orange-pink color, and so a lot of the salmon sold at your local grocery store is colored orange with food safe dyes, or farmers will feed salmon a compound, astaxanthin, that turns the meat pink. The natural grey color salmon doesn’t sell as well as the orange ones.
@enricofermi3471
@enricofermi3471 Жыл бұрын
It's a bit more complicated. Wild salmon has orange-ish flesh because it feeds on whatever stuff that gives its meat the color. But farmed salmon will have almost grey, or fish-like meat color, because it's fed a diet that has nutrients and microelements, but not those specific "coloring" agents. As mentioned, it can be circumveted by feeding farm fish special diet a few monts before harvesting.

Not totally correct, wild Alaskan salmon has a natural pink color, sometimes orange. Animals will change color depending on what food they eat... flamingos are pink because they eat small shrimp, and shrimp naturally have pink color when cooked due to astaxanthin inside it (which is actually a very powerful antioxidant and it's very good for you). And what do you know, wild salmon are also known to eat small shrimp, thus turning their muscles pink. If it's very orange, then it's likely the salmon ate a lot of shrimp. So wild caught salmon is supposed to be pink and orange (especially if from Alaska), if the salmon ISN'T pink and is grey, then it's likely farmed or caught in regions where they don't eat shrimp. Food regulation in the US is pretty good, especially when it comes to meat and fish products, any artificial dyes must be reported on the ingredients list and there are government and local city food inspectors who regularly inspect... although Republicans and Donald Trump himself has done some deregulation in food production during his presidency (pork products are now allowed to have some feces in it, look it up).

Salmon meat naturally is a deeper reddish-orange!! It's because of their natural diet they get that color in the wild. Farm raised are feed GMO grains & put on antibiotics. The farmers one isn't red like the wild one so they usually dye the meat to appear more to customers.

It's estimated that 40% of cancer deaths could've been prevented if those people had proper diets and lifestyles. Many cases of colorectal cancer are caused by poor diets. On top of that, our knowledge regarding cancer is still relatively limited. We still do not know how most cancers are formed or what their true causes are. It's difficult to get any big news about potential carcinogens due to large companies trying to shut those claims down or simply deny them. Love how CCP don’t feel like they “lose face” with these horrific business practices. They do not feel shame with their citizens having extremely low food safety standards, child labour, lack of hygiene, and greed without conscience. If they did felt any embarrassment whatsoever, they would have utilized full force in cracking down on these criminals, like they do hunting down protestors or opposers. The punishment for food poisoning the mass is nothing compare to a foreigner bringing a toy gun thru customs, just like any human trafficker will get less jail time than someone caught using VPN, or a serial killer getting the same sentence as someone talking bad about the government. CCP’s amazingly unjustified sentencing structure truly legitimizes its citizens’ disregard for the well being of others, be it these food frauds, the never ending petty thefts & scams, or the enormous mafia activities (drugs, human trafficking, sex trade, hitman/thugs, etc). Truly shows off CCP’s ability in actual law enforcement for the betterment of its people, and the poverty level of most of the Chinese populace. 🎉

Back in the early 20th century health and commercial food safety issues are a new thing. Knowledge of diseases, nutrition and health sciences are limited at the time. Sufficient knowledge became quite well known since the 50s. China do have food safety laws as well as building safety laws and labor laws, but are often not enforced and the so-called inspectors are often bribed. They use such laws when it benefits them such as against foreign businesses to eliminate the competition. Laws are often for show and enforcement is arbitrary in China. It's the uniform enforcement and fair judicial process that China institutionally lacked. China's constitution also grants the people the right to free speech and freedom of religion. What a joke.

You know what we do put in our foods? Chemical additives and preservatives, pumping our animals full of antibiotics, and pushing for high-sugar content processed foods by allowing greedy corporations and their lobbyists to dictate our food policies that bypass our regulatory bodies (FDA in the USA for example.) I do agree that western governments have a better handle and oversight for how private entities operate, but we still miss a lot of things that falls under the cracks as well, ending up in terrible manufacturing practices that resulted in countless recalls. @@CyanideOwlI certainly wouldn't consider it a health benefit, but on the scale of things that are bad for you, it doesn't rank too high. There are bigger battles to be fought right now. If you have to choose between eating food with cardboard or food with zanthum gum, I'm going to enjoy my zanthum gum.

While I love to visit China, I am often wary about eating street foods and processed foods. My Chinese "family" cooks all of their own foods from known sources. When we go to eat street food, we buy from the vendors we know. Quite often, it's the most expensive street food because it's real food, not the fake foods like you see in this video.

I recall the scandal of the companies using melamine in infant formula and also the melamine and other non-food ingredients which poisoned dogs in North America thanks to Chinese made kibble.

There are always horror stories about what ‘ingredients’ are actually used in Chinese takeaways here in the UK. I’m now thinking the most lurid stories might be true. This is utterly disgusting

I believe that this is only within China. When China sells their food related goods outside, they have to follow strict food regulations. But in general, if you buy low priced food in any restaurant, it is usually low quality ingredients but still within safety standards. (It's not easy to earn money as a restaurant owner when everyone wants low priced food. Corners will always be cut unless you go to high priced restaurants.)

@@Giggle971I disagree. In the past they might have had to have higher levels of quality, but their electronics have dropped to nearly zero quality, in some instances, so I woupd imagine that their food exports are suffering a similar drop

I saw that exact clip of that one situation with the water bottles while people were describing it as a scam. Supposedly they find empty water bottles from out of the trash so they can refill, reseal and resell them. I wouldn't doubt the clip of people filling beer cans is actually a similar scheme.
