the comments are so silly. This is is obvious a mass producing factory that caters to the casual collector. It is never meant to be seen as a true craftsman sword. It is meant to be a high quality mass product. Both of the swords here are not of Chinese origin, and they are obviously made for commercial purpose. There are also true craftsmen in China who make Chinese weapons for a very small and select group of collectors, just like katana makers. And this video is not meant to represent that.

I began watching this video with such a sneer, since I have seen many videos of authentic Japanese swordsmith crafting the world-class Nihontô. But as I am watching this I can not help developing respect for these Chinese factory workers. Their work is SOLID. It is what it is, given what they have to start with. The finished work appears to have a high quality and consistency in workmanship. And it's sold for only USD $10-20 dollars. I doubt if the same thing is made in the US or Europe in the same way of manufacture, the product would probably still cost over a hundred $$ dollars. The cost of labor is simply cheaper overseas and that does not reflect the level of skillfulness of these Chinese workers. The way the men work on the metal blades and wet-polish the blades, and the way the women tie the knots and leather-wrap the handles, all very efficient and skillful, not a single waste of time or movement. Only Asian workers are like this. And for so little pity money. Just to make a living... I have respect for them for what they do and what it is.

It’s an interesting look behind the curtain on what manufacturing that kind of thing looks like. I would never have people hand wrap a handle for a sword with a blade that bad but it seems labor is cheap enough to sell it at a price people will pay.
Dude, do a research on the history of “Japanese” swords. They came from China. The Tang Dynasty sword Tang dao when Japan sent tons of envoys to the Tang Dynasty and replicated the Tang culture as “Japanese culture”. It’s funny you should call everything the Japanese copied from China as “Japanese” pretending Japan was the inventor, taking credit out of China the real inventor, trying to make the inventor China look like the copycat while the real copycat Japan, a Sinospheric culture, as “inventor”, flipping the truth upside down. You guys think historians don’t exist, right? That you can just call everything the Japanese appropriate from others as “Japanese”. Copying American cartoon and pretend it’s “Japanese anime”. Copying noodles, dumplings, rice, rice wine, rice noodle, lamian (ramen), doufu (tofu), penzai (bonsai), weiqi, paper folding art, cherry blossom trees, jinli fish (koi fish), hotpot, soy sauce, miso, chopsticks, tea, mocha (matcha) from China and pretend they are all “Japanese”. Just slapping the fake brand “Japanese” everywhere and make a massive Japanese propaganda, while turning around to accuse the real inventor China as “copying from Japan”. It’s like calling the Eiffel Tower “American Eiffel Tower” just because you have a fake copy in Las Vegas, and then slandering the French as “copying” the “American Eiffel Tower”. Stop this kind of cultural appropriation and plagiarism and historical revisionism already. Samurai swords ORIGINATED FROM CHINA. Japan is the one copying from China, not the other way around. Google search for “Japanese missions to imperial China” and “Japanese missions to Tang Dynasty”. Nara Period and Heian Period were contemporary of the Chinese Tang Dynasty, where most “Japanese cultural elements” suddenly appeared because the envoys to Tang Dynasty basically wholesale copied the Tang culture back to Japan. That’s also when the katana first appeared in Japan, after the envoys went back to Japan from the Tang Dynasty of China….
