Do EXACTLY as Dengdeng says and you might get out alive! ;) Chinese has a grammar sufficiently different that I would recommend just forgetting Western grammar. Start like this NOUNS are VERBS and VERBS are NOUNS, this is generally true in Chinese and always true in German (which is a good grammar for learning Chinese) German also has verb compliments like Chinese does. Russian grammar has particles like Chinese does. These are key central points to proper Chinese grammar which are not found in English. So... don't worry about grammar, there's no gender, few or no plurals, no articles, no declension, no conjugation. It's a VERY simple grammar, simplest i've ever learned but is soooo different from English your best bet is to *focus on word order in sentences* which is basically fixed (because there is no conjugation or case) but somewhat different as compared to English (less so as compared to German).

Muchas gracias por la explicación. Cómo sugerencia, incluyan subtitulos en español por favor, puedo entender un 60% el ingles, pero será útil para los que no saben. Gracias saludos desde Sudamérica

A transitive verb can take an object. But some can also take an "indirect object", which is usually a person who is the recipient of the object. Compared to English, very few Chinese verbs can take an indirect object. One interesting exception is 告诉 ("tell") which *must* take an indirect object, so this verb is always followed by a person. For example: 我告诉你一个秘密 = "I'll tell you a secret" The indirect object is 你 ("you"), and the direct object is 秘密 ("secret"). As far as I know, there are no other Chinese verbs like this.

给 can be also used like that. For example: 我给你一本书。(I give you a book.)
