This is the best video, I watched in last 6-8 months for learning Chinese. Most of the resources you talked about, I am already aware but for a newbie mandarin leaner, this is an excellent video. Though I couldn't develop my vocab but I was in the process to find all these information which I wished I would have seen an year ago. Thanks Man, you are awesome but my recommendation, for full time working person like me even you learn a word or two in a day, give 5-15 mins daily would be fine, instead of giving full energy and getting lost on the way. Again so nice of you for share an amazing video. Keep it up.

I would like to recommend two Taiwanese podcasts: 1. 鄭淳予的深夜播客。A podcast about poems that I find very relaxing. In each episode one topic is chosen, and the hosts share their views on the topic and read to you poems that are related to the topic. Some recent topics are: mystery, memories, kindness & chatting. The three hosts are female and they speak in gentle voices and moderate pace. They are good friends for a long time so the atmosphere is always great and playful. 2. 衣櫥裡的讀者。A podcast that share one book with you each episode. I love the host's taste in books. So far my favorite episode is #72 where he talks about the history of building design. The male host speak clearly in moderate pace.

You should be aware that mandarin used in Taiwan is different from Mandarin elsewhere. The Taiwanese dialect is intermixed with English, Japanese, and vietnamese words. Scholars see it as a completely different dialect and call it Min.
@HaLUNÉ911 күн бұрын
@@morrisboris6877 I'm aware they are different. It would make sense. But they'd still be able to communicate, right?
@morrisboris687711 күн бұрын
Not in all cases. Min is too different from Mandarin. Have you seen the movie Coughing Tiger Hidden Dragon? One main character is Malaysian, another from Hong Kong, and the other from Beijing. Beijing dialect is pure Mandarin, the Malay dialect is mixed with a lot of Malaysian words, and people in Hong Kong speak Cantonese. The actor from Hong Kong spoke with a Cantonese Accent. There was a comment that none of them understood what the others were saying.
@morrisboris687711 күн бұрын
Another factor is that the same language in different countries will evolve differently. Take simplified characters in China and traditional characters in Taiwan. Plus, china and Taiwan have different histories and historic figures, so idioms based on that will vary greatly and won't be understood by the other

Then 15 min per day for Chinese vocabulary and vernacular grammar for the next 3 months, you should be able to communicate fluently in standard Chinese. You can engage in daily conversations and read/watch the news without any problem. Then, it's 8 hours of heavy study every day in the next 10 years to understand the "real" Chinese.

They evolve differently because of culture and various other factors. If you're talking about Mandarin spoken in China compared to the dialect spoken in Taiwan, there are similarities but they are completely different. As in China, putonghua (meaning common language) in southern china is quite different in tone from Mandarin spoken in northern china.

I am Chinese native in Shanghai city. I want my daughter to practise English with English speaking children, make friends. It’s helpful for your children to learn Chinese language fast. If possible, We can accommodate one or two children to live with my family in my house for summer holiday.

Hi! I am a fluent English speaker and I have been living in uk for about 10 years now but I actually learnt English as my third language so I can help you with what I found hard upon learning it too, since now English is the language I know the best. I recently decided to start learning mandarin because I want to know more about the culture too and I love calligraphy and also to express myself in other languages to communicate with more people! I’m really new to it, though, but I’d love to help each other )

Finally, got this very knowledgable content that is suitable for a beginner like me. thank you very much for sharing this one. Really eager to learn Mandarin and recently just listening to Pimsleur but don't know what to do after. So, new subs here and will definitely follow the steps you mentioned

Speaking about turing on the Chinese subtitle for videos/movies. Don't and never feel guilty for always read the words instead of listening the content, cause that's the thing we native speakers always do lol. And I don't recommend to turn off the subtitle to pratice listening on videos/movies, since most of the native speakers prefer to turn it on. Especially for movies, in Taiwan, we even have subtitle in the theater. For listening, podcast is good material for pratice. 作為一個在台灣的中文母語使用者,祝你們好運和學習順利~

I wanted to learn the Chinese language, and I learned simple things, but I left Chinese and went for Korean because I found it easier to pronounce and write as well, and I feel that it will benefit me in the future 😭💔.

For the HSK books, do you recommend buying the workbooks with it?
@Know-nx5yo7 күн бұрын
buying workbooks will give you additional practice and often will provide useful information that you will not get elsewhere. well worth the investment if you're serious about getting ahead.

I am a Chinese native. I’m learning English, I know it is hard to learn a language so I’d like to help people who are learning Chinese. And if it is possible, we can teach each other.😁
