Jin is 500g. Catty is the old English name for Jin back during colonial days, before China went metric. A catty is roughly 600g (604.78982g). Catty is still used somewhat around SE Asia. The smaller unit of Jin is Liang, and there's 10 Liang to 1 Jin. The smaller unit of Catty/Jin is also Liang in Chinese, but Tael in English. there's 16 Taels to 1 Catty, and 1 Tael is roughly 37.7994g, or 1/16th of 604.8g. If you are in Hong Kong, roast meat shops, wet markets, fruit shops, mostly still use Catty/Tael and we still call it Jin/Liang, which can be confusing for Mainlanders coming to shop.

Xiang Qi (Elephant Chess) quite similar to International Chess, but the pieces are divided into offensive and purely defensive pieces (can't cross the border river) the moves of pawns, queens and kings are different. The broad game the local men are playing is Chinese chess, it is usually presented with two guys seating and playing while a bunch of other guys standing and watching. Withhout the audiences it is not a perfect chess game. It's an common activity for the retiered. The red dates are very good for health. And u can also put it in the hot water to make a red date tea which our Chinese usually do. Some time when we feel cold or uncomfortable, we put ginger and red dates and brown sugar in hot water and drink it. Its very helpful for recovery.
