There is nothing more gratifying than putting your heart and soul into a project for someone you love. I'm making a crib for my grand daughter, and I can't help but think that she may put her babies to sleep in this one day. This was wonderful to watch. Steve

I was already to talk about the beautiful work and the joinery technics etc. and then the second part started with your daughter and I just got tears running down my face. I also have a daughter and they are so special to us dads I just can't imagine what and how you felt when she had heart surgery. So happy to see she's doing great. +Thom spillane thanks, Thom! Her surgery was stressful because it took a long time for the surgeons control her bleeding. But in the end she had the best possible outcome they could have hoped for. She is virtually limitless in her activities. She certainly is a special young lady.

This looks great, Sean. I also applaud your photography...I have had a hard time capturing some of the visual effects of the wood on film, and this shows them off well. I was wondering, what were the primary woods used on this one?

Thanks, Karl! I actually had a photographer come and shoot the bed. The last stills are his raw photos credited in the description. The bed is made from African Mahogany/Sapele. For the most visible portions I used the ribbon stripe Sapele.

+MarginWalker thank you! Its called High Density Filler. It is almost like that "instant snow" stuff kids play with. It is used to thicken epoxy to add more structure. I didn't want it epoxy to run all over.

+Bruce A. Ulrich thanks, Bruce. She loved it but it is also hard to excite her and get a strong reaction. And you are correct. I already bashed my shin into the footboard. It had been a long time walking around a narrow bed so I wasn't use to the extra width. That will only happen once.

Many people have asked that question. The bed in this video was a work of love, meaning the amount of time would not be economically possible for the average consumer. A cal king size with all the inlay would cost $45K. All the inlay was cut and set by hand. Very time consuming and strenuous.

Thanks! It was a compass plane or a radius plane. It wasn't quite as sharp as it could have been in that clip. It works great though for evening out concave and convex curves
