Awesome build, Sean. This is EXACTLY my style of bed. A bed build is on my list of things to build, this turned out awesome.

+Crafted Workshop thank you, Johnny! Me too. I really liked the way this turned out...for my Brother-In-Law. Now I have to make one for myself, someday.

+oojagapivy thanks! Too calming? Some have said it put them to sleep.

Sean Rubino to be honest, I first tried to watch it late at night & did fall asleep about 2/3 of the way through. Rewatched it today right through.

Really nice work. I would be terrified to carve those corners!

Thanks! It was a little nerve wracking at the start but with a sharp gouge to remove the bulk and a rasp it was really simple. Also, sandpaper is your friend for blending curves and profiles.

Very nice, what kind of oil did you finish it with?
@SeanRubino7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Dylan. I used Minwax wipe on polyurethane. I started with gloss to build up the finish and ended with 3 coats of satin.

Sean Rubino very nice looking. I really like the style. But that poor dog looked so sad. It needed Sarah McLaughlin music playing for it. Lol

Thanks, Mark! She was a shelter dog, very submissive, and obedient, she's the best dog I ever owned. She was waiting patiently for me to finish so I would rub her neck.

With the other bed build?
@tooljunkie5557 жыл бұрын
damn Sean that's beautiful! what size round over bit did you use
@SeanRubino7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Joe! I used a 3/4" Round Over (the grey bit) on the front edges of the feet and a 5/8" Round Over (the red bit) on the rails and the back edges of the feet. The carving and rasping was to blend the two different radii. Further, the two different round overs made the foot have a neat shape where the "toe" was narrower than the "heel." If that makes sense.
@tooljunkie5557 жыл бұрын
Sean Rubino ALWAYS BRO! & yes!! It totally makes sense. that's exactly what I was talking about. that looks AWESOME! love the way you did that👍👍🍻
@tooljunkie5557 жыл бұрын
I know the red is Freud but what was the name brand of that grey bit.?
@SeanRubino7 жыл бұрын
Whiteside. Best router bit I've used. No burning ever in my experience with it. And yes, the red bit was a Freud Quadra Cutter. It's a good bit too. I like the 2 additional cutters.
@tooljunkie5557 жыл бұрын
Sean Rubino yes Whiteside that is top of the line for sure but totally worth it cuz you get what you pay for going to have to look into that don't think I've ever seen a three-quarter inch round over and I respect your opinion so definitely have to look into getting one
@sweetbrandigirl6 жыл бұрын
So HOW much did it cost to build this bed and what type of oil did you wipe on ?
@SeanRubino6 жыл бұрын
Material cost was about $900. I used Minwax Polyurethane as the finish.
@scotthaun85827 жыл бұрын
how big was that roundover bit?

I see the youtube trend has moved from Green and Green to Mid Century modern? :D
@SeanRubino7 жыл бұрын
+Cheesegrater Yes and no, this was for a client, made on their request. I would not have made this bed otherwise. I'm not sure Greene and Greene ever caught on as a trend on KZbin either. But you are on to something. MCM has been emerging as of late.
