Blandy Sen: First of all, all mineral resources are state-owned and private mining is illegal. Moreover, the incidence of pneumoconiosis is a very slow and long process, which proves that it is difficult to obtain evidence for pneumoconiosis caused by working environment. The difficulty of this matter is that a miner works for an illegal coal mine without paying medical insurance and tax. The illegal employer often runs away. In addition, the government can't afford your additional treatment costs, which can only be borned by the employer.

@@condorX2 mines are not exactly small businesses. It requires a lot of investment, a lot of machinery. Not a business that can operate illegally and stay hidden. While the government may not know if a mine is legal or not, they can always check their records, which only need a day at most. Unless of course greased palms are making it difficult to handle records.

Why do people always blame China for that? China is only 70 years old, there are many problems need to fix, it is impossible to get everybody rich because we have almost 2 billion people. This scene is sad, but why people added government in the title? People always think CCP is bad, but look at India and other second-world countries, CCP has tried their best to develop China, there are too many greedy people in government, but it doesn’t mean that CCP didn’t do anything. They used 70 years to build a country that is able to play trade-war with America, And Golf war won’t happen in China. So please be nice, China is not that bad, it is improving

Believe it or not, I start looking into the culture revolution after reading your last message lol. I learned a lot. I'm glad Mao died. It let Deng Xiaoping make China great again. Mao officially ended the Cultural Revolution in 1969, but its active phase lasted until at least 1971, when Lin Biao fled and died in a plane crash, accused of plotting to overthrow Mao. After Mao's death and the arrest of the Gang of Four in 1976, Deng Xiaoping gradually dismantled the Maoist policies associated with the Cultural Revolution. In 1981, the Party declared that the Cultural Revolution was "responsible for the most severe setback and the heaviest losses suffered by the Party, the country, and the people since the founding of the People's Republic". Watch how Deng Xiaoping made China great again. Why Chinese Manufacturing Wins. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2itl6WwoNKtr8U

chike james In my opinion the Communist Party is probably unable to care for every citizen in the country as of right now. China is very big with a lot of people and the Party leadership is also made of humans who have limitations. We should try to understand that the Party is trying to improve and care for everyone but has currently not achieved the goal as a significant minority just like the miner in the video are getting left behind. I really do have faith that the Party will be able to eventually care for all citizens in the near future, but the Party needs time. And I am also not sure how many people will be left “uncared” and how long will it take, I really don’t dare to predict, but I still have faith the Party will have the ability to care about everyone in everything one day.

You could but it would only be accessible from outside of China and you'd need someone from China to organise the delivery / allocation of funds. Also there's roughly 2300 of these miners who need help with roughly $5000 USD medical bills each so to help them all $11.5M would need raising. I'd love to also set something like this up, but we'd need people in China to help.

He had a foot in the grave and still his thoughts were of his regrets for failing his family. Filial and loving to a fault. Rest in peace. Hopefully the regional authorities will be punished for their incompetence. Amoral as the CCP is, I doubt this was intentional. More likely bureaucracy and incompetence resulted in this. Reminds me of the recent efforts by politicians to block the 911 First Responders Bill for firefighters and police officers suffering from terminal asbestos poisoning. Victims in both cases fell ill serving their country, and were betrayed by some of the supposed 'leaders' in their nations.

Medical issues should not be delayed due to financial difficulties. In my country if someone is sick, they can go to government hospital to get treatment first then worry about payment when he is better. If in the end still can't afford then they need to prove to the social workers or some government staff about their poor financial situation and the bills could be waived and pay by government fund. Having the correct treatment now can increase their lifespan so I really hope actions can be taken soon. It should also be lawful for employer to be upfront regarding any work safety and risk to employee. Children of uneducated folks who are given the chance to study should be more responsible and considerate for their own parents and family members. Finding out our parents working condition and their health issues is very important. Both my parents doctor appointments including those acute types are accompanied by me. I pack their daily medications every 1 or 2 weeks to ensure they didn't miss out any dosage. Looking out for each other in the family is important.

First of all, all mineral resources are state-owned and private mining is illegal.

I can understand mandarin fairly well, as I am Chinese-American. What I find is that it’s harder to understand the people living on the country side, maybe it’s because a little change of dialect, accent, and way of speaking? I could still make out some of the sentences their saying. Anyone can explain?

Ong jit tuck It is sad but I think the Communist Party “no care” not because they don’t want to care, but because they’re probably unable to.

Sad to be aware of this truth. It's the tragedy of that era because country needed to develop while people wanted to earn money but there was no law enacted and personal concept on occupational health. What's more, insurance system was coming so late that those poor people couldn't be covered. In a word, poor and uncomplete social system caused the tragedy. If now government and society can do something to help? Allowance, donation, fund, etc.

@@Roonasaur 12 cent or even lower only matters if they can hold their employers liable for their medical costs. Its cheaper for employers to settle privately cases which eventually reach the news like this one than to start buying masks for everyone. Its not rare for companies to brush off these guys as mere contractors, or their diseases are due to their smoking habit, or the general fact that they live in polluted areas. These guys have no work cover, no insurance, no anything. Pretty hard for these guys to 'demand' anything until some major legislative changes imo. Btw trade union aka the All-China federation of trade unions is a joke.
