Who are "they?" Is the government forcing land owners to build solar farms on their land?
@snellavision

No, they can't because then they will have to rip up the land to install the power lines so that the energy produced by the solar panels can be transferred to the grids in the city, etc... many myths have been perpetuated in selling everyone on this "no-cost" renewable energy transition.

Because we have a perfectly efficient and clean coal powered electricity system - that's the best way to go. Incredibly expensive glass solar panels are extremely toxic - hailstorms here are common - renewables cause problems to the power grid, unbalance the supplies - inefficient, no sun no workie, no wind no workie. Co2 is no problem so there is no need to reduce it - human caused catastrophic global warming is a scam so that's another reason NOT to go along with this madness. Regards.

Besides, I doubt they even took into account the amount of diesel needed to mine all the minerals. A Chinese solar company in China, which also happens to be the largest company in the world is in serious trouble. They had a fall of its net income of 44% in the third quarter of 2023. It has been suggested that they will be forced to lay off 30% of them employees. The company's shares have fallen about 70% from their peak in 2021. There is currently a glut of over supplied panels and I suspect that this is why China has dropped its tariffs on wind and solar. Our market may be about to be flooded with cheap renewables.

@@kamsunleong6648 Cheap or otherwise, renewables do not equate to cheap electricity. The more solar panels and wind turbines the higher the bill. We are paying for this infrastructure, the Australian taxpayers. Our money is going to greedy developers and to China for a source of energy that is not fit for purpose. Australians do not want wind turbines, solar panels, backup batteries or EV's. We want reliable electricity and we want to be self sufficient. We want to bring back manufacturing in our own country. @@RS-ls7mm Absolutely, expensive vulnerable equipment. DC is actually more efficient at transmission. The drawbacks as you know are changing voltage and galvanic damage at junction points of dissimilar conductors. They have got the efficiency of voltage and AC working well, but it only makes sense in 500MW , 500 mile interconnects. Also everybody that wants to save the planet from CO2 wants to do it for a profit. Lots of cheaper, less toxic batteries are held under patents. Anything sold with be at the highest price. Building fences with solar panels is probably the best way to use them in conjunction with any type of agriculture. They apparently even produce more energy when installed vertical.

You dont need solar farm.. if solar can just be part of the building code.. roof is a free space rather than waisting an acre of a good land to put solar panels

Oh a climate change denier. Using farmland for solar (not) farms is already bad, and having a climate change denier denounce this is worse.

First i heard of anyone in the UK making fences out of panels. Got to wonder whats wrong with all of us these days, A. for electing them in the first place and B. Not kicking them out immediately irrespective of 'elections'.

Think how will a solar farm that's located in a remote place in the middle of the country, be able to transmit the stored energy to the end users in far away cities. Without having to build high voltage transmission lines stretching thousands of km as well.
