Tuwing Chinese New Year sangkaterbang tikoy ang nare receive sa mababait namin kapitbahay. Nakaka miss yung mga araw na yon.

Actually chinese people are good people pero hindi talaga mawala ang salbahi.

This is so heartbreaking. When she said, pleaee visit and let us feel that we are loved kahit once a year.. wow. That hit me really really hard. To the foundation, thank you for doing God's work..

I am deeply touched by this feature story. Perhaps because I see my mom's strong resemblance to these ladies. I just feel very sad why their families opted to leave them here instead of their own homes. I don't want to judge but one mother even wishes to be visited at least once a year, it's not that troublesome naman siguro to pay her a visit. They have limited time na po, let's make them happy and appreciated po. I will visit po once I get back to manila again

This deeply moves me. The word, "Ahma" brings back memories of my grandmother. It is sad to see these ladies being alone. What is wrong with those kids? I wished I lived nearby; I would volunteer to take these grandmas to the beach or park just to be out and make them feel they are not alone.

@Kids_video-n2u4 жыл бұрын

I wish I'm rich so that I can give financial support to the elderly people in the Philippines. I consider them as filipino because they are in the Philippines. Our family take care of my single aunt when she was sick until her last day. She was my father elder sister, even my dad died before my aunt we still take care of our aunt. We loved her very much. My father's side family was a chinese by blood family but pinoy by heart.

Why does it feel like this channel is suppressing the use of Hokkien? One of the elderly clearly had a heavy accent while speaking Tagalog and could not speak it straight. Why make things harder for her?

I feel you. It's part of our culture to mix chinese and local dialect when we talk. This feels oppressed.

Chinese family po kami pero I think these filipino customs in the philippines, even if to many people especially those from China mainland may not understand as it is very impractical, it's still the person who raised and cared for you and that decision was purely emotional, and We have to give back in some way.

Ako ang nag alaga sa Nanay namin until she was taken by the Lord.

Most Chinese in Philippines are from Fujian.
@masterkoi293 жыл бұрын
To all who doesn't know. Hokkien dialect was the dialect of Chinese from fujian. Fujianese traced back their origin from the Han Dynasty and because of migrations to southern part of china. If all of you doesn't know Chinese history. Then you won't know how Han people spread all over Asia.

ever wonder why there are also Filipino home for the aged? leaving your parents in the home for the aged is neither a Filipino culture or a Chinese culture, it's just a matter of one's attitude towards their parents. both cultures embrace the importance of family, FYI.
@mesoridazine6 жыл бұрын
As former Chinese born and raised in the Philippines most uneducated Chinese are also discriminated upon by local( my father was uneducated migrant). I was denied re-entry to Philippinea after 2 years stay in USA. The USA was gracious to allow me to stay( despite not being born in USA) and subsequently granted US citizen. I now can visit Philippines as US citizen. Would have preferred to live in Philippines and practice my medical profession there after all I got my education there and got my license there by passing the board examination there. It was hard to convert to Filipino citizenship in 1972 unless you can afford it. Grew up in Tondo and speak Tagalog fluently.
@jamesfaustinooconnell96995 жыл бұрын
Cindy mananzala do you even understand what you just said? They are filipino chinese people aside from speaking tagalog fluently its kind of obvious they follow the catholic church and not taoism yet your telling us they never embrace the filipino side in them?... To abandon your grandperents in a home for aged has nothing to do with the chinese traditions stop acting like a holy witty wannabe
