I have a friend who dislikes Chinchillas, just because of how they look. Or maybe they dislike the way they sound. I have another friend that thinks they sound like really light vinyl discs being scratched, and they just dislike the sound. It's like, why do some people hate tarantulas. Most people dislike them because of how they look, and then they don't take the chance to know that tarantulas are actually very peaceful unless scared or provoked. So it's very much possible that someone was told of a Chinchilla, but they didn't know what this creature was so they went on KZbin to look up a video, and saw this thing and said, 'Ew I don't like this.' Then pressed the dislike button and left.

I am confused how you got to that conclusion. of course the babies are not going to need the mom anymore when they are mature. Yes she will die eventually but from what I understand the longevity of a chinchillas life is around 20 years well taken care of so your statement about her passing after they dont need her confuses me. the babies know who she is because they grew up with her taking care of them which is her role as a mom so her genetics will continue.
