Hi Pene So sorry to hear you had to suffer through shingles. How awful! And on top of your flu-like illness. Goodness. You look lovely, and healthy, now, so hopefully the months ahead will be illness free for you. Great to see Pete again and hear his stories. Incredible how easy it was for him to get into BP! Has his leg healed 100%? And your knits are beautiful. Yes, I do see what you mean about the brown stripe. On camera it seems intense, but perhaps not in actuality? It IS just fine as it is and your choice of blue is stunning!. It would be a shame to rip back, however, what do you think of finding the lighter brown section in your new ball and working that into the last rows of your colorwork? Would that balance it out? It seems the reason the brown is so noticeable is because it doesn't repeat again below. In any case your sweater is beautiful as it is! Looking forward to seeing your next podcast. Thanks for posting. You always cheer me up. (PJ in his bath made me laugh aloud. 😊. )

Hi, Yes Pete is better 100% with his leg. Healed well with Patina's great oil. We do rely on her to keep us healthy! I think with the brown stripe I was disappointed with the wool. It's going to be a walking woolly I think and the colour will be ok. I'm going to see how it goes with the sleeves. Thanks for the suggestion. I have a reluctance to stuff PJ for some reason but will do it. A portly polar bear will be great!

Pene your top down jumper is beautiful ,love the colours. I also think it would be nice with the brown at the wrist and even somewhere towards the bottom of jumper to tie in. Good luck with it anyway. Really enjoyed Pete’s story ,he’s very natural and that makes him a good story teller. Will look forward to next one. Glad your rid of shingles I had it and I found it was like having electric shocks and the pain would catch me out.

Hi Pene - it’s really lovely to see you again and to know that you were feeling well enough to make a podcast! Pete’s stories and then his comings and goings were just so lovely - and I loved your expression of patient acceptance, too! 😂 What gorgeous yarns you chose for the shawls! And the jumper is looking wonderful - I do understand your reservations about the brown section… but it didn’t jump out at me until you mentioned it. Your PJ bear is super - each time I see another completed ‘Mouche’ bear, they each seem to have their own individual character! Let’s hope you remain well now and steer clear of any more nasty bugs! Take care xx

Hi Pene, So lovely to see you! Sorry to hear you were poorly, I'm glad you are feeling much better! It's amazing how much knitting you've done even though you've been feeling unwell! It's so sweet to see your lovely husband come in on the podcast to share his memory of the visit to the Palace, it's also so sweet to see the chemistry between you. How you care for each other - I'd want that in the future. I am so in love with your colour choices and the progress on the Calypso! Alanna is my friend and I got the pattern and have been meaning to spin some yarn to knit it as well. I think you did well to choose the teal for the body (thats one of my absolute favourite colours!) and I do agree that the brown (even though I'm not particularly fond of it myself) adds depth to the yoke, it looks really nice. I'm sure it will be quite harmonious when the piece is done. Mouche (PJ) is looking quite lovely too! I remember when I knitted my little bear - the Tsutsu one - my daughters played quite some time with it before I stuffed it. Aren't Cinthia's designs so brilliant that all of us want to play with those characters! Enjoyed your video very much while spinning on some baby alpaca. Hope you do get back to spinning - it's so therapeutic! Greetings from New Zealand (if you hate winter come down here - we have summer ;) Marina

Hi Marina , How wonderful that Alanna is your friend. Please tell her from me that I loved her pattern. So clearly written and easy to follow, especially as it is my first top down. I absolutely love PJ. He is stuffed now but naked and I feel so drawn to take him with me where ever I go!! Cinthia's designs are indeed fab. I hope to get back to spinning, the e spinner seems an answer to the space problem. Thanks for joining me from New Zealand. xx

Hi Pene! I've been catching up with your videos this week. I've gone backwards in time beginning with your "Travels to Tresco" and ending up here with you and Pete once again. It might seem redundant for me to go on about how much I enjoy listening to you two, seeing your travels and crafting/knitting, but you're going to have sit and take my gushing. Your podcasts are lovely, and just what the doctor ordered for me. Small joys lived in a big way. Thank you. There are far too many parts that are my favorites to list here, but I'll try to mention a few. First it's great to have you and Pete together. Gosh he makes me laugh, such good stories about your dog and the Palace, and of course the exit, or should I say exits. Charming. Good for you with the top down knitting. I love a good top down sweater, and for children's (jumpers/sweaters) they really whiz right up/down. The cords (we call them barber cords -who knows why- over here) are terrific. Fabulous that your daughter is taking up knitting she's a natural. Strictly! lol your mom had a lovely sense of humor. Your holiday looked refreshing, and it was so nice that you were there for your guides 50th Tesco anniversary. Well, that's enough for now - before all this praise goes to your head. Feel better, and I can't wait for the next one.

PJ will need a fishing cap😉. I love his little heels. Sorry about the shingles but nice to.hear you are getting better. Do they offer a shingles vaccine over there? my doctor says I should get one although it might cost put of pocket. So.then i don't and hope for the best😷. It is full on autumn here and leaves are changing and dropping so fast. Never lasts long enough! We have some maples in our yard that turn a yellow orange that seems to glow. I just never tire of it. Time to pull out the shawls. I have loved every color combination you have put together for your daughter's/granddaughters shawls. And the sweater is beautiful. I see what you mean about the brown, although I don't mind it. thanks for sharing. Take care.

How lovely to have maples that glow, yes winter will just suddenly be here. Shawls here are all year round for me! I've enjoyed knitting every one for the girls. The brown is sitting better with me, I've learned if I use it again to cut out block bits if I don't want it. Hoping the rest of it will fit - a new venture. I'm off to bed, take care. xx

I’m glad it didn’t linger. It was delightful to have Pete tell his story. Times have changed! Your teal sweater is going to be stunning! I really think you’ll enjoy wearing it. sorry to hear you've had shingles pene - i have a friend who got it in the roof of his mouth! it was horrible - it kept shedding... no shingles shot? or did you? love your blue sweater, which looks smashing with your striped top. one thing i've learned with yarns like spincycle and zauberball, is that i simply cut out the strand sections that i don't think fit my wip - since you asked, i'm not keen on that brown line - i think it detracts from the lovely blues. perhaps if it repeated again it would fit in better. somehow, at the neck, it seems fine to me. hate to say something un-positive - it's still a lovely sweater. and your films are just the best - you've got such a keen eye. as for me, i'm the opposite - i dread summer and the heat, and so look forward to the fall and winter and the cold - ain't life grand! cheers from libby

Lovely Pene, I do so enjoy your channel! And Pete is charming. I watched your channel from start to the last Chinwag (88) and then felt you must be ill when there was a long gap. I tried to be patient. I have to admit that even though your darling mum has been gone for a bit (a short bit) and even though of course I never "knew" her, I miss her dreadfully. So I can only imagine how much you miss her. I thought she was just precious. Her little "bye bye"s were the cutest thing and the time or two she blew a kiss brought me to tears. I think you must be so glad to be able to look back at the Chinwags and be with her again. Anyway, I watched all the episodes and two of my friends were watching as well and asked me if there would be more. (How could I say?) We love your films of your garden and the town and the lovely scenery. Oh, and thank you for sharing your family - especially the great-grandchildren. You must stay incredibly busy making quilts and knitted items for them. And all your work is so beautiful! I came to your channel when Julie (Camelia Crafts Designs) mentioned your channel. You are making your books in the same way you make everything - lovely, lovely colors and so well made. I am a junk journal maker but mine are scruffy. Anyway, I don't think I left a comment more than once before so I wanted to say hello. I am so sorry you have been ill. Shingles is a misery. Do you not take the jab in the UK? or was your jab unsuccessful? We get jabs for everything here in the US all the time (I am an old lady of 69 - nearly 70). Do stay well and all the best to you and your lovely family!

Ooh shingles how awful, glad you are feeling better. I I used to spin & had traditional wheels but then bought an espinner & loved it. Didn’t miss the treadling action which I thought I might & like you say doesn’t take up much room. I would recommend any day. Mine was the wooden one not the teeny tiny plastic one. Happy crafting. @@penelopeschinwag it’s nice & solid. Looking forward to hearing how you go in with it in due course. I’ve taken a leaf out of your book, last weekend went to a great yarn show & stocked up with yarn to see me through the dark days of winter. 😀
