my marriage ended a little over 11 years ago, i never saw this movie before it ended but after watching it, i have fallen back in love with my ex wife even though she has no feelings for me at all. all i do is just pray and trust that God who is a miracle worker changes her heart and brings her back to me but i know before that happens i have to give my all to Him and rededicate my life to Him. whether it ends the way i hope or not, i still love her and always will.

When Caleb gets on his knees to apologize to his wife, I began weeping as I pictured myself in his place and his words as my prayer to Christ.

I LOVE this movie! I hate it when there are those who say it's for the "brainwashed" ppl - whether you like it or not, Christ is the Creator of Marriage & He is the glue that holds Husband & Wife together! If that bothers you, TOUGH!

This makes me cry. My fiancee and I watched this movie and it's helped our relationship. We could've split a few times, but we made a promise to never leave our partner behind, especially in a fire. I am thankful this movie was made. It touches the deepest part of the heart.

Even the best people endure hurts and heartaches in marriage. This humility and apology is amazing. This movie is amazing... every single married couple should watch it, especially if they are going through a rough patch, and especially if they are considering separation.

I love this scene. It shows how God's love really works. Notice how Caleb just took in Catherine's negative comments and responded positively. A person without God may have been a little more piss if they're being sincere and the other is not fully accepting it. God gives us patience and this film made me realize how important it really is for God to take control of a person's love life. I honestly never put much thought into it before.

Watched this movie about a month and half ago and cried my eyes out. I knew our marriage was on the rocks, but two weeks ago, after being together 23 years, he told me time I woke up on a Sunday morning, that he had already found someone else and it was over. I've been with him since I was 15 years old and I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm destroyed.

It is NOT about money at all! The message is that, at one point he valued and spent what he had on selfish desires. But now he is willing to sacrifice and give himself up for her and her desires, for her good, for the Lord, and that beautiful, God given blessing of marriage. Love is about what one is willing to give up for it, not about how much one has. If a man is willing to give up all he has for a woman, then he truly is loving her, whether it's 5 dollars or 5 million.

One of the most powerful moments in this movie. 2nd only to the scene of Caleb and his father at the cross when Caleb explains his reasons for it not working and states that she's spat in his face. Only to have is father make him realize that he has done the same thing to Jesus. These two points in this movie broke me and are helping me get past my issues in my own marriage. We serve a mighty, powerful God who loves us unconditionally. No matter how badly we've wronged Him, He is there waiting.

Powerful, and yes, my favorite scene was when Catherine found out Caleb purchased the bed and chair. This movie simply is wonderful. The acting may not be the best, but the message it so well gets across hits a home run. Japanman, simple question for you.....What if it is true? I, like many here, claim Jesus Christ of Nazareth as my Lord and Savior. He saved a wretch like me. I am not deserving, but will always be thankful.

Everyone shold understand who needs to participate in the Love Dare. It's not the person or person doomed in the relationship. It's the person that realizes the relationship is doomed. Trust God that upon your conviction, the other person will follow.

There is actually a Kirk Cameron interview you can find on KZbin, where he says it is his wife, and on google if you search for pictures of Fireproof, you will eventually find a picture of Kirk and a woman, both of their faces are shown, and she is indeed Kirk's wife, Chelsea. And I know what you mean, I have so much respect for Kirk, he is my favourite actor.

Caleb made the decision to give his life to Christ. It is expected that Catherine not knowing Christ would act the way she did towards Caleb. Like Caleb, she was not innocent. They both contributed to the breakdown of their marriage, however Caleb came to her confessing all that he had done wrong in the marriage instead of blaming her for her past and current faults. Caleb proved by his love for her and desire to save to their marriage with the sacrifice of his much desired boat.

Even if your NOT CHRISTIAN don't let that stop you! This is a really spiritually awakening story, it speaks volumes to the truth beyond knowledge.(WARNING: contains a little provincial dogma.. ) Probably the only thing it didn't address was that a couples love(spiritual bond) needs to grow beyond themselves, immediate family, friends & to include a growing love & compassion for animals & nature, however, for that I recommend watching PEACEABLE KINGDOM

Are you implying that Godly love is somehow common-sensical and obvious to us? Love is not a flutter of the heart of a fluffy feeling; love suffers long and is learned through much discipline and devotion. We are not born with selfless love, we must suffer for it. Just look at the cross and see true love suffering, and that sort of love only comes through the transforming spirit of God. God's word, as well as other books, can be POWERFUL tools to change us.

@Malkmusianful Just because acting is pretend, doesn't mean that one should compromise their morals for it. Kirk Cameron made the right decision to have his wife stand in for the kiss in end of the movie. He doesn't want to commit adultery, even if it's for the sake of acting.

one thing i dislike from the movie is that the Catherine's character seems so innocent here. If a marriage doesnt work, it should be from both side. I almost cried for all the things Caleb did. But the wife? she wasnt giving attention to him as well at the beginning of the movie. Disrespectful. And (almost) cheated in the end. And then? Still Caleb is the one who begged? And she accepted him back only after knowing he paid? Doesnt make sense.

@geraldsitorus Its hard to understand, as you say it makes no sense, no logic, but if you see through the eyes of love, the true love of God and the lessons he teached us, forgiveness, no pride, respect for the other, patience, you can understand the "personal battle" that Caleb fought in the movie. I'm right now fighting that battle, believe me, its tough, its hard, worst than everything, but I have faith in Jesus that its worth the pain..

I need to know if there are other movies like this out there. I'd like to have a collection of good, wholesome, clean movies that teach people about the important things, and that it is a sturggle to have them. If we're going to struggle in this world, then let us struggle towards things that will make us, others, or the world better. And does anyone have the Love Dare book online or something- I'm poor.

Be careful here... you are touching on a prevailing problem with our culture. There is nothing wrong with being entertained, but if truth is not being shared through movies, then what are they worth? Movies, as well as music, have an amazing power to bypass our reason and influence us passively. If someone can take a sermon on true marriage and turn it into an entertaining and beautiful movie and capture the imagination with TRUTH, then I believe the movie has served its true purpose.
