The shit you said about people who can’t wait to have a friend of theirs get killed because they feel like it gives them clout is 100% true. It’s really dark and bizarre to consider that there’s actually people who selfishly look forward to a tragedy for that reason, but I can tell you it’s a cold hard fact of life with people today. Nobody wants to admit it, especially those who secretly want the same themselves. It just goes to show you how little some of us really mean to the people we consider our friends. We live in a culture which breeds literal sociopaths, and you never really know who your actual boys are. The stuff about every city trying to emulate Chicago is on point too, there’s some really weird stuff like this that not enough people speak on, even though it’s become so obvious at this point. Thanks for being one of the people willing to say it like it really is. Nothing will change for the better until enough people are willing to acknowledge these issues.

Logan Lockwood You're absolutely right about that. They didn't start banging until the mid/late 80s, or 90s. It USED to be that IF you wore the color black with any other color, then you would be approached and asked what you be all about, and if you said that you don't be about anything, then they'd ask why you wearing their rival's colors, and you'd reply that you didn't know that you had to be aware of their rival's colors. If they saw that you're straight, they'd left you alone; however, they'd issue a warning that if you came back wearing their rival's colors, then they were going to take the personal belonging -- even if it was a pair of pants and in the middle of winter. Now, IF the person was caught carrying their rival's colors on a bandana, you were in some huge trouble, because you can't claim that you don't bang. They'd take the bandana away from you, then proceed to kick the living shit out of you, along with anyone that's with you. Do you know where Kosciuszko Park's located? It's by Diversey Ave and Pulaski Ave. It USED to be neutral in the early 80s, but turned into a "folk" territory, I believe, in mid 80s. I don't know what gang has that territory, because I haven't been around Kosciuszko since 1988 when I used to walk to high school, and I had to walk past the park. I remember one day, after my sister's former boyfriend had picked her up from school, and we were cutting through the park to save some time ( my sister and I had a very strict amount of time to get home after school, or we got our asses beaten black and blue), and them two idiots ( my sister and her former boyfriend) decided to scream something about King killers, because her former boyfriend was a Gaylord, and she was representing them, but she wasn't in it -- just how Jake keeps saying about those who act/claim that they bang and they do this, that and the third in order to get street cred, this was my sister to the tee. I had noticed that there was some Hispanic guy, sitting in a car by where Avers and Diversey met, and by the time that we got to Avers and Diversey, there was 3 Hispanic guys, and they looked pissed. My sister's former boyfriend ( whom I'll call "Jay" ) had his boombox with a baby blue and black bandana wrapped around the handle, and they asked us what we be about. I looked at each Hispanic guy, then I looked at my sister and Jay. I said that we don't be about nothing, and they were being stupid. One of the Hispanic guys lifted up his shirt, and showed that he had a weapon in his waistband, and he asked us again what we be about, and by this time, my sister and Jay were getting the living crap scared out of them, and I was getting extremely pissed. So, I began showing the guys that I was super pissed off about their stupidity, and I began screaming at my sister and Jay that I was going to kick the living crap out of the both of them, then as soon as we walked in the door, I was going to tell our mom that she almost got us killed because of her and Jay's mouth and stupidity. One of the Hispanic guys said something in Spanish to the other two, and the one with the weapon, looked at my sister and Jay, and told them that they were super lucky that I was there, or they would've had a hole in their heads by now. He turned to my sister and said that a mother's punishment is worse than death itself. They took Jay's bandana and destroyed his boombox, then they warned them by telling them that IF they see or hear them again, there will be nothing that I can say to save them. They told us to get the fluck out of there, and we did. We were about a half a block away, and I grabbed my sister by her throat, banged her up against a tree, and I told her that if she EVER did that again while I'm around, I'm NOT going to stop them from doing whatever they were going to do this time. I threw her to the ground, then I got into Jay's face, and told him that he better not represent the Gaylords while I'm around, because I will not stop them from putting a flucking bullet into his head. When I walked up to my sister to help her up, I noticed that those 3 Hispanic guys were still watching us, and they were pointing at them and laughing. My sister and Jay NEVER did anything like that again around me. You'd think that would've scared Jay straight, but it didn't. He was shot in the back by a rival gang banger, and was paralyzed from the waist down. He passed away at the age of 47/48 from an infection caused by a sore by his tailbone, which literally obliterated his tailbone. He called my sister to bring him something to eat, and his living conditions weren't even fit for a damn feral rat. She told me that his tailbone was black and was turning liquidy, and it stunk to high hell. There's only two ways of getting out: prison or 6 feet under. I apologize profusely for the incredibly long comment. God bless you, and your family.
