Hi Harrison, great film, watch looks really nice but the Hamilton Scuba really confuses me as a watch fan who is a scuba diver. We are told that a water depth rating 100m or 10bar means it is ok for swimming and snorkeling but not Scuba diving. As a scuba diver who dives to a max depth of around 40 metres, is this watch appropriate? The name suggests it is but the 100m water resistance suggest not, unless it is is truely 100m and the standard understanding is not relevant to this watch. Do you know ? Cheers Dale

100m is not a diving watch. As you know, the WR rating is not just depth, it is pressure - which includes wrist movement creating more pressure. Depth and pressure are different although related.

The notion that moving your wrist underwater could add any considerable amount of pressure to the watch has been proven false. @@DoctorJ1337 Okay. However, entering water will increase the pressure, as too will the speed one moves through the water. The atmospheric pressure when submerged requires a multivariate analysis to state conclusively what it is at a particular point in time during a specific action.

@@alwayspooh1588 I cannot think of many relevant variables beyond the watch's depth and the speed the watch is moving. At 100m of depth, the increase in dynamic pressure would be 0.5 bar at a velocity of 10m/s.That means that even at the completely unrealistic velocity of 10m/s your watch would only experience a pressure equivalent to a depth of 105m. This is more than enough room to consider dynamic pressure negligible.

That looks like a fun summer watch, and isn't too expensive to consider it for a holiday watch. Great video, lovely backdrop, fun to see it being used in a dive environment. I doubt many ofthese watches get below 3 m, never mind close to 100m. Enjoyed this splash of colour, and optimistic feeling video.

They do have a blue with white accents. The “new” releases are the new colors, but they’ve actually had this line for a while! There’s a 40mm blue, and a 43mm slightly different blue

Wish they would update the smaller case size like they did to the 43mm. Would be better without the date. The inner 24hr scale reminds me of the Glycine combat sub. Which is a few hundred cheaper…

I like Hamilton, but $850 for a "scuba" branded watch that isn't even rated for 200m, let alone ISO certified, seems like extremely poor value. Why would I ever choose this over a Seiko King Turtle which I could easily find on sale?

Purely from a design perspective - I wish they had a little more color matching on the dail to the strap. It could have been something on the hands. Overall - I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10. I like Hamilton as a brand.

I really think the 40mm (100m) H-10, and Quartz versions, should be marketed as a Skin Diver and the 43mm (300m) H-10 as Scuba Diver. At the street price, the 100m is a reasonable value for a Swiss automatic dive watch. The screw down crown and 100m is more than enough for basic water activities. Since you’re buds with Hamilton, please do a review of the 300m Khaki Scuba Auto. You’ll surprised at what that watch offers, for its price point, in a dive watch. It would make for a great follow up video.

ETA movements are great the do the job very well. Only watch snobs say in house is better, when 90% of the time they are not. Most of the time in house movements can only be serviced by the brand and they charge you handsomely for the pleasure.

Thanks for sharing your views about this interesting watch. When referring to the 100m rating unfortunately you, like many other reviewers, equated the rating to diving depth. This is not correct. The 100m rating is a water resistance pressure rating and not a diving depth rating. 100m or 10bar is about a watches water resistance at a certain pressure. So if you are diving to 6m your watch may encounter greater pressures than 6m of water due to what you are subjecting your watch to. For example, jumping of a boat, sudden movements under water, etc.

The movement its throwaway, its a cheap powermatic 80. you can get a lot better for not a lot more money. Shame because Its looks are definitely in the right direction and it could really be a bit of good fun. I have the original green Khaki scuba and it’s bomb proof. Not a true dive watch as has no pip on bezel at 60min/12 o’clock. They’ve included the date again after dropping it for 2nd Navy scuba. I’ve worn it for 3 years and been bashed about with me having a manual job. It gains a little time over a 2 week period but rather gain than lose as never late for anywhere. I’ve just damaged the crystal and got a quote of £300 plus costs off Hamilton. Considering watch cost £690 and no service offered with repair I think that’s very expensive at nearly half the cost of the watch for a new crystal. Hamilton need to look at the price for repairs for their watches.

Yeah, but any seiko under 700 bucks is mediocre at best. Finishing is garbage, nothing lines up properly, and they definitely don’t have 80 hours of power reserve. I mean having a throw away movement is nice if it stops working. But, you can get everything that Seiko offers out of an Addie’s dive or San Martin for 150 bucks. This watch is fun. I’m gonna buy one.
