Mexican food is part of latin food when talking in general. But not when competing with other dishes. Mexican food is very specific and has a very large category of dishes that are only to mexico and when saying you want to eat mexian food, it takes out a lot of latin dishes out. Example: carne asada burrito is not mexican, but tacos are a mexican specific thing. other latin dishes that are very similar to mexican dishes tend to have a different name or recipe. example: "empanadas" for mexians are a sweet dessert. other latin cultures stuff them with different types of meet. in mexico if you want a latin empanada you have to be specific of the culture type or ingredients.
