@@doinkee Well that's also because the bolt weapons in darktide have much more recoil which gives them more "oomph". In darktide you play as a regular human instead of a superhuman space marine. The kickback on a bolter weapon is much less noticeable for space marines than it is for regular humans.

Yes, yet before this update it used to be far, far inferior. It didnt have a lot of cleave, and the damage was pathetic on those that it can hit. The special attack could be juked by a single poxwalker (think slave rat); the blessings were mediocre save for a few. Thankfully this update made them much more usable.

I love the new Crucis, just 10/10. Combined with the "smoll" bolt pistol it's a truly flexible build, i searched for a long time a gun to use with the hammer, i used the revolver and the bolt gun but it ain't the same... Nice to watch them on different builds !

Watching this basically made me want to buy this game right away! I've never played a Warhammer game so I have to ask would you all say this video is a good representation of what the game is like? To me it kinda seems like Risk of Rain combat w/all the kiting and identifying the biggest threat on the screen before cleaning up the grunts.

This game is not at all the same as RoR. Well, a lot of concepts are going to be similar but how you go about it is different. First of all, movement is 2 dimentional in darktide. Second, there arent items to pick up through out levels to power you up. Third, the focus is largely on the melee, despite what some psyker and veteran mains will tell you. Finally, movement and defence are keys to staying alive

Still, the main thing that seems awesome to me is managing the hordes even if I can’t do it with a gun. In RoR2 movement is important too, arguably the most or second most important thing to understand. All in all though, I think based on your description I’m gonna pick it up. It’s on sale and everything.

As much as long time fans hate them, they are really the only devs who mastered first person melee combat. Just be glad you joined now and not two years ago when the game was in a very, very rough state.

I've played with Chocob when he was running zealot in random match making. The only KZbinr I've spectated in game that can solo maelstrom. I don't know what headphones he uses but he was dodging everything behind him by audio. Insane reactions every time someone got hit by net or dog..he was there in less than 1 sec, fraction of a sec. No hesitation, decisive and pure instinct.

Any headphones with 7.1 spatial audio will help, if you run it on PC with something like Dolby Atmos software and use the positional accuracy tuning it really makes a significant difference in what you can hear around you. It made a big difference my gameplay.

I really enjoy my Psyker gunner build, I created it for quick and tactical advances, I use a Vraks Machine Gun and a Reaper to advance against big targets, while for hordes I use warp crystals to finish off infested enemies and scabs, This makes me have not just one aggressive item but three, especially focused on criticals and elites, a very balanced and aggressive build, but difficult to play, you want a lot of experience in staying in control and not getting stressed

Lethal Proximity and Run n' Gun turn it into a revolver that hip fires incredibly well and gives up some damage for the ability to stagger entire groups with single shots. It still feels kinda clunky if you try to use it as your primary weapon but god damn it makes a great quick draw special killer and CC machine to support melee focused builds.

Veteran and Psyker do now have perks that give weapon swap speed as of the recent update. Also vet with executioners stance lets you equip any weapon including the heavy bolt gun instantly when you initially use it. I wish it gave 100% swap speed while active but yeah, with a cooldown reduction build on vet its pretty damn fun and effective.

There's still things i don't like about thunder hammer but at least the cruicus is viable now. The attack patterns just kinda suck and it horde clears really slow, so they can't really power you through a bad situation without taking a bunch of damage which is a shame. I feel like weapons like this just get left in the dust by the dagger, the dagger honestly has just as good boss damage too. It just hurts my soul having a huge fucking hammer and having to run away from a small horde bc it takes forever to actually die.

The new itemization update is really good and all the pain from the rng is almost all gone so you can def get the blessings and refinements u want on your weapon. As for the state of the game and someone who has same as you came back after not playing for a year i am greatly enjoying my time. The game is what it should be at launch right now even though it took them 2 years…but still i would say yes its worth jumping back in

From 7:00 to 9:00 you can see how useless the thunder hammer is to clutch against bosses that are not alone. On paper u have the best melee weapon to delete bosses, but on reality it's so slow that the cc from the boss won't let you land a single hit, so choco ends up using the bolt pistol to kill the ogryn lmao. It's so frustrating, the hammer should have a shorter wind up/ charge time, and a larger self stun time.

Looks like you're asking a weapon to be perfect at EVERYTHING, which is kinda unreasonable. FIghting boss alone is always scuffed, no matter what. Plus, it's not like fully-charging thrust TH is the only way to deal with it yknow xD. Hell, it may take a bit, but if you just heavy spam you probably won't have to worry about getting swarmed by chaffs cuz of its superior CC. Tbh, Plague Ogryn's charge is almost a guaranteed knockback so it's kinda less about the Thunderhamer being "useless" for that sitch. If you think that is too big of an issue, honestly just light-special spam probably works too or something.

@@sivel7493 and here comes the authority argument of "I'm a lvl 1000 zealot so I'm right". I have seen lvls 90 play better than lvls 1400, so that means nothing to me. The thammer is bad at hordes because it's slow as fuck, so any other zealot weapon will be easier to use against dense hordes, you don't have to compare it with ogryn's melee. According to you, the thammer is good against hordes and bosses, and now I ask you: why does it have such a low pick rate (even after the buffs), and the higher lvls (+1000) only play speedy zealots with knifes, axes, and other fast weapons?
