Okay, Julie didn't say, "Hi friends" in this one! Bad girl! Ha! And, blueberry would be good too. Extra chocolate syrup of some sort,,, i.e., does the above recipe taste "chocolatety" enough with just the liqueur?
@SyBernot2 жыл бұрын
My grandmother used to make one where she whipped the cream and syrup and flavors in a metal bowl sitting in a bigger bowl filled with ice and rock salt. Once it's mostly frozen you put the bowl in the freezer and it's soft serve in about an hour. It was like a 15 minute operation and made great pizookies too.

Another advantage to pre-chilling your freezing vessel is that you are then guaranteed to have room in your freezer to make the upcoming frozen deliciousness! If your freezer is like mine, (and we know it is!) space is always at a premium.

Love this! As someone who has allergy issues, I love the idea of being able to make my own ice cream without needing an ice cream maker. Flavour requests: something green tea/matcha flavoured, and maybe something with a chocolate fudge and marshmallow cream in a chocolate base (think Heavenly Hash, if you’ve ever had that, but that might be an east coast thing).

Anxious to try this recipe! I was given a recipe for sweetened condensed milk about 30 years ago and I still use it. It works great in any recipe I have tried so far. 1 cup skim milk powder, 3 Tbsp butter, 2/3 cup white sugar and 1/3 cup boiling water. I use a food processor or a hand held immersion blender. Sorry for the imperial measurements, I still cook in imperial.

I'd vote for any stone fruit (peaches, apricots, plums, nectarines, cherries, etc.), mint (peppermint and spearmint), nuts (black walnut, pecan, pistachio, almond, etc.), and anything that includes "berry" in the name of the fruit. You could also try something that you won't see in a commercial shop, such as rhubarb [a/k/a pie plant] (with strawberries most likely) ice cream. Melon ices would also be a refreshing and interesting recipe.

Really interesting to learn about how not to get crystals in the ice cream mixture. My mother made a great "little churn" ice cream, by making a junket with milk and a junket tablet, cooling it, then adding vanilla and condensed milk and beating it up. Like yours, it then went in the freezer in a cold dish. It would come out of the freezer a couple of times and she would tip the mixture into a bowl and beat it (no electric beater in those days, a hand held egg beater), it only took a couple of minutes each time (we did live in a very hot city in Australia, so the ice cream was probably melting fast!). Probably not as rich as this one and did require a little churning, but no electric machinery (apart from the freezer) and I have very fond memories of that ice cream, I loved it as a child. Your video has inspired me to try yours and make my Mum's again! Thanks a lot. Look forward to more complex ice cream recipes.

You inspired me to make no churn ice cream! I have to make mine dairy free but fortunately there is a selection of dairy free whipping cream and sweetened condensed milk now. I made peaches & cream, with a mix of fresh peaches and peach cobbler peach filling. (Texas Fredericksburg peaches - yum!) It's the way my grandfather made peach ice cream in the churn when I was a kid. Yesterday I made brownie ice cream -- same ice cream base, and crumbled up half an 8*8 pan of gluten free brownies into the mix. It's so nice to have easy desserts for our family that avoid our allergens! Thanks for the inspiration!
