Agree, I like her recipes and videos with step-by-step explanations and tips except that I am an East Asian I think most of her recipes I need to reduce the amount of sugar. Yet the level of sweetness tends to be high in almost all western dessert recipes comparing to the East Asian's ones... so not blaming her... but one need to be informed.

I actually put a couple of spoons mayo in all my lemon cakes and they are always heaven! I use homemade mayo without salt, plus a sprinkle of turmeric for that deep yellow colour. I will definitely try this one, thank you, greetings from Frankfurt, Germany

@@dragons8822 Sure, the version that I find perfect for lemon cakes calls for 1 egg yolk (ideally organic), 1tbsp lemon juice, 1tbsp white vinegar, 1/4 tsp ground turmeric, 220ml sunflower oil, 30 ml extra virgin olive oil and lots of patience in slowly adding the oils. Might need 1-2 tbsp water in the end if it gets too thick.

Dear Stephanie...I made this chocolate mayo cake then cut the sheet cake in half; I frosted it with chocolate butter cream & my retired UPS worker/neighbor received it for Juneteenth last nite. He said, with tears in his eyes, it is cake like his mama would make for him. Thank you Stephanie for all you do and give us. (The other half got frosted w ganache & is in the fridge!)

Hi Stephanie thank you for posting! The cake look so yummy. My aunt use to make this cake in the late 70's. If I turn my cake half way through baking time, I'm afraid it will fall. I don't bake often but I'm going to try turning it half way through baking time anyway and pray all goes well. : )

I have my grandmother recipe and it called for just good mayo no eggs and only one cup sugar and 1 tsp vinegar in the mayo which gave the cake lift with the baking soda and baking powder.

I've made this cake, substitute 40 grams of all-purpose flour with corn flour and reduce 20 grams of sugar (I've run out of this things and cant go outside buy things due to the lockdown TvT) but it turned out good. It's amazing, soft, moist and fluffy! Thank you for the recipe!!
