Wow, talk about Reminiscent. I went fishing on Choke Canyon , just days after it 1st opened in 80s. Boat. launch is West of campgrounds, up river & had to cut your way through trees, get to river channel. Your spring arrival, may not have seen the awesome & huge bucks that hang there in winter, plush all the wildlife. Unfortunately, it's been over 15 yrs since was last there, but it's a awesome place & hope to return one day. Thank you for making this trip.

I am getting ready to come to Texas from Illinois to do some tent camping and lots of fishing. I am tossed up between here and Sam Rayburn. This has been the best video I have seen about the camping parks, I really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot.

Great Story! One of my favorite parks: A few interesting factiods: There were at one time 3 TPWD units at C.C., the Calliham, South Shore (by the dam) and the North Shore unit. I believe the Calliham unit is the only one currently open. The North Shore unit was never developed, though there are roads and boat launches (which were never used). At one time the N.S. unit had a deer hunting season (black powder/musket only). Before the lake was constructed, the town of Calliham was located beneath the projected flood plain of the lake. The whole town (including the cemetery) was moved to the location where it is now. The Calliham Unit is one of the premier birdwatching locations in the South Texas. This lake used to be a huge bass fishing lake, (many fishing competitions were held there). The long parking spots next to the cabins were intended for the fishermen to park their boats and trucks. If your an avid deer hunter, make sure you don't have a weak heart when visiting the Calliham unit in the fall, you'll see some of the most magnificent buck specimens so characteristic of south Texas, (you can only look and don't touch:) You mentioned a lot of the indigenous animals (turkey, deer, beautiful birds, etc.) Plus, javelinas coyotes, magnificent owls (if you're lucky). If you're on the lake, watch out for water moccasins in dead trees sunning themselves, and alligators (many are huge!).

Hey great video! Wife loved Stacy's E-bike. Could y'all tell us who makes it? Thanks
@rvamericayall11 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Robert! Our bikes were made in California by Electric Bike Company. We've had them for several years now and LOVE them! They have held up great over our several years of ownership. They have several models to choose from. We both have a Model E. Here's a link to the Electric Bike Company website so that you can learn more about them and the bikes that they offer. We are EXTREMELY happy with our EBC bikes! alnk.to/5F9HEgX

Sorry for the confusion. This park has 2 bodies of water. 75 Acre Lake and Choke Canyon Reservoir. The reservoir is 25,000 acres.

I just clicked to LYK, there are gators there. If you're scared of gators, don't go to Choke Canyon. With dat said, the water is NOT swimmable...
