Also, a fun fact, a little bit after the Soviet Union collapsed, North Korea asked to join the IMF and other organizations. The Chollima Movement was conceived in the 1950s by Kim Il Sung. It was a purely economic and political movement, aimed at improving production in the country through a procedure analogous to the Soviet stacanovism of the 1930s. Chollima is the name of being from Asian mythology that represents a winged horse, on which only heroes can ride and this contributed enormously in spurring the workers to produce as much as possible.

People need to be more open minded about a North Korean superstate. 1) They probably have no birth rate crisis (economic strength against sanctions and state sponsored marriages). 2) Goal of self sufficient policy from other superpowers like US or China (isolationism) 3) Internet censorship against negative foreign ideas 4) Cultural traditionalism plus open to progress in science, weapon technology and socialism Granted, there may be some negative sides to it such as some food and resource shortages here and there among other things due to limited trade with the outside world but I bet if North Korea solves its problems, they will be one of the few able to survive any "Great Filters" the universe may throw at them.

Chollima(천리마) is a horse that can run 1000-li (li, now defunct Korean unit. it will be easy to think of it as Korean ft) a day. PRK started a social development movement called the Chollima Movement(천리마 운동), and Chollima On The Wing(천리마 달린다) is a song from that movement. The Chollima Movement was named because, like a horse running 1000-li a day, the battle manual of the Blitzkrieg called for construction and national development(속도전 as PRK's korean). ex of 속도전 : Building a 70-storey apartment in 74 days with extremely little heavy equipment.
