I love my 2016 Speed and this can only be better right? I have the US Arrows, not Euro, which means I have taken the baffles out. I'm sure at some point the new Arrows for the RS will offer a version that you can remove the baffles. You hit the nail on the head when you said it was the gentlemen's super naked, not as hooligan as the Super Duke, Tuono or MT10. It's closest rival being the Monster 1200S, which is also a great bike. If you want smooth and plenty of torque power this is the bike.
@callofgeorge
@callofgeorge 2 жыл бұрын
you can remove the baffles.. just not easily.. you have to take a flap disc grinder to the fusion welds and pope them out with a clothes hanger/slide hammer.. i just did mine on this exact bike.

@@dougie1325 i mean, you can do it with a grinder, dremel, sand paper if you're patient, technically a saw. its not an uncommon tool. sold at any home depot, lowes, harbor freight, tractor supply, or whatever hardware store is in your area. i got mine off amazon for $60. dewalt angle grinder and a 4" 80 grit flap disc wheel. there are videos on youtube of people showing how to do it.

Can you do a comparison to the Street Triple R in next video? I have a 16' Triple R and really looking into the Speed RS. Can you explain why you picked it over the Street RS also?
@MotoChooch
@MotoChooch 6 жыл бұрын
WhiteRockTriumph next video I’ll have ready is a LED headlight conversion for the RS but I can tell you after owning the R the RS feels a lot more powerful, even more refined, and more confidence inspiring. It just FEELS more capable and solid on the road. Like you can turn harder. Hard to really explain but it feels like more of a grown up bike than the Street. Picked it over the Street RS because I wanted more power this time around and the overall package of electronics features and suspension plus that single sided swing arm was too much to resist.

Just curious..did you also check out the regular Speed Triple S? I know the major differences are the Ohlins shock, the quickshifter/auto blipper, and the Arrow exhaust. I’ve got a 19 street RS on order but every time I see these reviews I feel like I should upgrade, but then I think to when I actually sat on the speed and it feels completely different vs the street. I’m 5 11 @ 220 and the street felt perfect to me, the speed felt bulky and just felt strange. Idk, I actually pretty like the looks of the speed, but the street just feels different in a good way to me. Am I wrong with my decision? I still have time to switch...
@xorbe2
@xorbe2 5 жыл бұрын
I have Street RS, and I agree the Speed RS feels so bulky in comparison when I sit on at at the dealer. I manually lowered my Street 1" with a lowering link + drop front + Soupy's kick stand, it's super easy around town.
@mustangGT375
@mustangGT375 5 жыл бұрын
xorbe2 I stuck with my decision and got the Street RS and love, so glad I didn’t change my mind. The bike fells great and the white is beautiful. I had the dealer install some heated grips, so I’ll be riding this bike all weathers.

Hey Chooch, I've got a question for you. I thought I heard it pretty clearly in your video, but are you getting pretty noticeable transmission whine in 2nd gear? I'm attributing it to the way the gears are cut, but I figured I would ask since there isn't a whole lot of information on these floating around quite yet. I just picked up my Speed Triple RS (gotta love the crystal white) last Saturday and have been riding it every day. The first 100 miles was rough trying to keep it under the 3500rpm suggestion for the break-in, but I can bump it up to 5k for the next couple hundred miles, which really smooths out the shifts. I'm in total agreement with you, though: this bike is phenomenal. Ridiculously nimble, power delivery is excellent, clutch is grabby but extremely smooth from a stop, suspension is great, and it sounds awesome. I can't wait to be able to open this thing up.
@MotoChooch
@MotoChooch 6 жыл бұрын
Zach Daniels Zach Daniels I don’t think any of the whine you hear is the transmission. Triumph notoriously has a triple cylinder engine whine which is a lot more obvious on the Tiger and the Street Triple with the quieter exhausts. Then again it might be the tranny. Either way I don’t find it to be something that detracts from the experience.
@zachdaniels8112
@zachdaniels8112 6 жыл бұрын
MotoChooch not at all! It doesn't detract from the experience in any way. I was just curious. I really only notice it in second gear (accelerating and decelerating), almost like a car with straight cut gears. This is my first triple so I wasn't sure if it was normal for these bikes. Thanks for the response.

MotoChooch just FYI, I heard back from Triumph America about the 2nd gear whine. They said because of the layout of the transmission, 2nd gear will be the loudest, but it should quiet down as I get through the break-in.

Ben Kaylee Krol Tuono has more top end I think. Also a bit tighter of a rider triangle. Still a fantastic bike in its own right but the daily usability of the mid range torque on the Speed is more of what I was after. That and I love the look of the speed. The Tuono is a bit loud visually for me. If I was primarily focused on the track I may have decided differently.

Pretty sure I heard a sex-wee there, haha :D I almost went for the Speed RS, but decided lighter and smaller suited me better and went to the Street RS a few weeks ago. The quality of these bikes is fricking amazing and I'm sure the Speed RS is exactly like mine, but on steroids. Looks fantastic and the downshifter would be nice too :) Don't need to say this, but have fun :)

YarekBalear I had a 2016 Street Triple R first before the Tiger. Rode the Street RS for my series. Night and day man. The new RS bikes are absolutely amazing!

Agreed - I rode the 2016 Speed R on a test and loved it, but found it a bit heavy. I used to own a 2010 Street R, so decided on the Street RS and just before I bought it they brought out the Speed RS. It was a serious dilemma, but I decided to get the Street RS without riding the Speed RS as it'd just cost me money :D :D :D

I like to watch those videos but honestly couldnt picture myself standing there all on my own, in front of my new bike, and rattling down tech specs for what feels like ages. Thats not how its supposed to work. At some point you have to turn the camera off and just enjoy.

A gentleman's super naked true until you get over 7000 rpm and then it turns into a complete monster, Performance bikes a bike mag in the UK put it up against a MT10SP on Almeria race track in Spain and it was 3 seconds a lap quicker than the Yamaha, Triumph have built a sweet bike.
