I love my 2016 Speed and this can only be better right? I have the US Arrows, not Euro, which means I have taken the baffles out. I'm sure at some point the new Arrows for the RS will offer a version that you can remove the baffles. You hit the nail on the head when you said it was the gentlemen's super naked, not as hooligan as the Super Duke, Tuono or MT10. It's closest rival being the Monster 1200S, which is also a great bike. If you want smooth and plenty of torque power this is the bike.
@callofgeorge2 жыл бұрын
you can remove the baffles.. just not easily.. you have to take a flap disc grinder to the fusion welds and pope them out with a clothes hanger/slide hammer.. i just did mine on this exact bike.

Can you do a comparison to the Street Triple R in next video? I have a 16' Triple R and really looking into the Speed RS. Can you explain why you picked it over the Street RS also?
@MotoChooch6 жыл бұрын
WhiteRockTriumph next video I’ll have ready is a LED headlight conversion for the RS but I can tell you after owning the R the RS feels a lot more powerful, even more refined, and more confidence inspiring. It just FEELS more capable and solid on the road. Like you can turn harder. Hard to really explain but it feels like more of a grown up bike than the Street. Picked it over the Street RS because I wanted more power this time around and the overall package of electronics features and suspension plus that single sided swing arm was too much to resist.

I’ve got a 19 street RS on order but every time I see these reviews I feel like I should upgrade, but then I think to when I actually sat on the speed and it feels completely different vs the street. I’m 5 11 @ 220 and the street felt perfect to me, the speed felt bulky and just felt strange. Idk, I actually pretty like the looks of the speed, but the street just feels different in a good way to me. Am I wrong with my decision? I still have time to switch...
@xorbe25 жыл бұрын
I have Street RS, and I agree the Speed RS feels so bulky in comparison when I sit on at at the dealer. I manually lowered my Street 1" with a lowering link + drop front + Soupy's kick stand, it's super easy around town.

xorbe2 I stuck with my decision and got the Street RS and love, so glad I didn’t change my mind. The bike fells great and the white is beautiful. I had the dealer install some heated grips, so I’ll be riding this bike all weathers.

Hey Chooch, I've got a question for you. I thought I heard it pretty clearly in your video, but are you getting pretty noticeable transmission whine in 2nd gear? I'm attributing it to the way the gears are cut, but I figured I would ask since there isn't a whole lot of information on these floating around quite yet. I just picked up my Speed Triple RS (gotta love the crystal white) last Saturday and have been riding it every day. The first 100 miles was rough trying to keep it under the 3500rpm suggestion for the break-in, but I can bump it up to 5k for the next couple hundred miles, which really smooths out the shifts. I'm in total agreement with you, though: this bike is phenomenal. Ridiculously nimble, power delivery is excellent, clutch is grabby but extremely smooth from a stop, suspension is great, and it sounds awesome. I can't wait to be able to open this thing up.
@MotoChooch6 жыл бұрын
Zach Daniels Zach Daniels I don’t think any of the whine you hear is the transmission. Triumph notoriously has a triple cylinder engine whine which is a lot more obvious on the Tiger and the Street Triple with the quieter exhausts. Then again it might be the tranny. Either way I don’t find it to be something that detracts from the experience.
@zachdaniels81126 жыл бұрын
MotoChooch not at all! It doesn't detract from the experience in any way. I was just curious. I really only notice it in second gear (accelerating and decelerating), almost like a car with straight cut gears. This is my first triple so I wasn't sure if it was normal for these bikes. Thanks for the response.

@zachdaniels81126 жыл бұрын
MotoChooch just FYI, I heard back from Triumph America about the 2nd gear whine. They said because of the layout of the transmission, 2nd gear will be the loudest, but it should quiet down as I get through the break-in.
