Great video. I found out I should stick with my aluminum prop for the high hazard lakes I fish.

A trick: watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.

Thanks for taking the time to your share your video and knowledge with us. It is really appreciated! I have a 5 mtr. RIB with (x2) 40 hp Enduro outboard motors (5500- 6000 rpm. max.), both have three blade props 11 3/8 x 12. The Boats max load capacity is 1 ton and although I am no way any where near that at all, it seems slightly heavy at the transom, once she is loaded up with dive gear, since it is very sluggish, to get up on the plane. I am looking to increase the power, for towing applications, as we are doing small salvage operations. From what you were saying, it seems that a 4 Blade prop is the way to go, but I have not seen any for this size of motor. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! Kind Regards!

Sean Ashcroft best take it to your outboard dealer Sean as they can have a look at your setup and make more informed recommendations.

@@RyanMoodyFishing Thanks Ryan. However, I live in South Korea and my Korean is no good! Thus my reason for asking you.

Sean Ashcroft I’m real sorry mate. I feel your pain but I’ve not had anything to do with RIBs or that hull type of that horsepower or that make of motor. Nor do I carry weight in my fishing punt. I’d just be totally guessing. Sounds very specialist to me hence why I went to a dealership to ask those same questions.

a very late reply , but let's just write it. With 2x40=80hp , you should be able to plane at min. 10knots with 80hpx40kg=3200kg total weight. and you claim you never reached 1ton in total. the problem seems to be 80% load distribution and 20% incorrect trim setting. you can switch to 11 3/4" X 10" Pitch and lose 20% top speed , but plane more easily with a loaded boat or while towing.

To bad. One wouldn’t try to say what normal prop most put on ski boat. And what is most common on fish boat small. And what most common prop on little boat do you see then go from there.???

Stainless "has no give", true but is that not what the shear pin is for? To snap off and prevent further damage?
@RyanMoodyFishing
@RyanMoodyFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Shear pins are mostly in smaller outboards. Bigger outboards have bushes.
@jimquantic
@jimquantic 2 жыл бұрын
@@RyanMoodyFishing Fine, same question then, dont the bushes prevent further damage?
@RyanMoodyFishing
@RyanMoodyFishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@jimquantic I’ve used stainless all my life but I’ve never actually hit anything major so I’m not speaking from personal experience but know of several people who have damaged gearboxes and /or shafts hitting things with stainless. But it’s up to you what you use. Alloy props have a bit more give but require more repairs on the prop if you hit something.

Technical questions are not really answered in a technical way. In the end one has no clue which propeller to buy. So rather than two guys chatting in a bar, a white-board and graphs is the way to go...that is if you really want to deliver some knowledge.

Could you give me any suggestions I watch propeller be a good fit for a 1998 Larson flower 176 with a 90 hp Johnson That Carly has a 19 pitch aluminum three blade prop that starts porpoising at 23 mph and loses power in the corners when pulling a tube any feedback would be greatly appreciated thank you
@RyanMoodyFishing

Clayton Gilbert do you adjust your trim and tilt when you go to a higher speed? Trimming the nose down should solve the porpoising. Regards the prop, best take the boat to a Johnson dealer and they can experiment with you as there are so many variables it is impossible to answer in a text.
