Really enjoyed this talk. I have been following Luke for some time and only recently heard about Adam's rods through another youtube video. I can totally relate to Adam's experience too as we are a similar age and I too grew up watching John Wilson and Chris Yates programmes after school. I have recently made the jump from coarse angling to fly fishing on my local small River Alyn with a 7ft 4weight (carbon) rod. I would love to try a modern cane fly rod when my budget allows.

Great video, Personally its got to the point where really I want a different rod, not only for a particular river or even type of fishing, but for an exact spot! and only that spot! in behind the boulder under a bush under the bridge near baby elephant etc lol, so i've gone down the route of what Luke said, so I have got one rod and i know it intimately. Its an 8'6" 4 weight Carbon, (Clearwater) and it always feels like home in my hand because i learnt on it. One of the best attributes of my rod is its ability to not break when ive gone ferrel down the river chasing shadows,. Toughness is very important I feel and is often put to the bottom of the list when buying a rod. Thankyou for great discussion. Nearly March fingers crossed!

The longer rod aspect is really interesting , most of the rods I use now are 10 ft 4/5/6 wts
