.....Crown,....ok. Trojans are a solid deep cycle Battery. different ratings according to what is needed, also true, in my experience the Crown has preformed about the same as the Costco brands. In the 6 volt applications I've found the US brand on par with Trojan (the 2200 being the equal to the T105)

I'm glad to see Crown batteries reviewed. We've had good luck with their CR225's. They lasted about 10 years in a standby UPS application. It's now time to replace them. I'm curious as to the model # of the Crown battery in the video. Thank you!

We have 2 of those in our RV. They work well except that their voltage drops significantly when we run the microwave (we have a MS2000 inverter). I recall from your load test video that the voltage of one 6V GC2 held steady at 5.8V with the load tester pulling 300A. When fully charged, our 2 CR260's in the RV drop to maybe 10.4-10.6V when the inverter is using ~180A (it's a large microwave). That voltage is from the remote display for the inverter, so it includes the drop over 10 feet of #4/0 gauge welding cable. They've behaved that way since they were new. Does that sound normal? An note regarding 'smart' chargers -- in my comment below I mentioned that I installed a Magnum Energy MS2000 inverter/charger in our RV. When I first bought the Crown CR260 batteries and charged them with the MS2000, the specific gravity was low (equally low in all 3 cells of each battery). The MS2000 was brand new and set at the factory default bulk/absorption/float voltages for deep cycle flooded lead-acid batteries. The MS2000 was going through all 3 stages as designed but the specific gravity was still low -- maybe 1.24/.25. Not bad, but nowhere near 100%. I began to suspect the batteries. I took them back to the retailer, they tested them and said they were fine. Their cheap hydrometer was 'optimistic' (which worked in their favor). Both of mine are the type that look kinda like a turkey baster -- a glass tube with a float. They both read the same (1.24/.25). I went back and forth with the seller. Finally, one employee who was soft-spoken, intelligent, and polite (as opposed to the cavemen he worked with) suggested I use an 'old school' charger like the one shown in the video. I asked how that could be better than the multi-stage charger in the expensive MS2000. He explained that many smart chargers go into float too soon. Of course old manual chargers never shut off -- the charging current just slowly tapers off as the battery reaches full charge (which is why they should not be left connected indefinitely). Sure enough, my old 'boat anchor' charger did the trick! I left it connected for about 48 hours and the specific gravity in all cells was about 1.280. I've since adjusted the settings on the MS2000 charger, so it does a better job.

@@DeepcyclebatterystoreSanDiego It's kinda sad that a so-called "smart charger" cannot fully charge a battery -- at least not with the factory default settings. I'm glad that there was that one guy working there who was willing to help.

Have you guys seen better battery life compared with 6 Volt?? Some people are claiming they dont last as much. is it true since you have alot of experience with Marine 12v?

The six volt does have more cycle life compared to a 12 volt Marine deep cycle

All lead acid batteries need to be charged. With a multi stage charger 5-7 stages. On stage is a maintainer stage. It's job is to extend battery life

Good question. Range/distance for batteries is a function of air temp, passenger weight, terrain. Ex a 36v, six 6v - golf cart T-105 225Ah has estimated range of 6-8 miles, 9.65 - 12.88 km or 18 holes of golf on a full charge. Trojan are complete junk, I’ve had 2 sets - for my 48v club car. First set lasted about 2 years. The ones I put in last year, lasted less than 13-14 months. With light usage, charged properly. Trojan does not stand behind the batteries- will not warranty this set. About 8 years ago, purchased a cheap set from battery source, their brand & it lasted for about 4 years & we were using the cart a lot more at that time. Plus the Battery Source brand is about 2/3 the cost of Trojan, Last twice as long or more.

Cheap. Look at some other videos from DCB San Diego and you will see AGM might be best for your situation. They sure are for RV's and Wheelchairs IMHO.

As far as I know, Northstar does not have a GC line. But if you want an AGM golf cart battery, look to Leoch or FullRiver. They are off shore mfg but have high cycling GC batteries. Trojan has a GC AGM as well with lower ah

I wish you were in phoenix!! I have 4 batteries, each with 6 caps, V formation. When I charge them sometimes they sound like they're boiling! The brand is "FPV" but to be honest they've been good for me so far - even in this God forsaken HEAT!!

@@markmeneghetti5484 not very long. Think of leaving your headlights on your car battery what happens... the plates buckle and battery fails. Same thing when it golf cart discharges regular starting batteries.

Same idea of leaving headlights on your car for a couple of hours when car is off. The starting battery plate is less constructed for deep discharge and more for a moment of high current output to spin a starter motor, then recharge from alternator

Is a new Invacare charger from 15 years ago with a flooded/Gel selector switch a good charger? It is heavy, hums a bit and never quite shut off...rather it sinks to 1/2 amp or so and remains there. Thanks
