I watch every Daniel Fisher video, even if it's not on a type of music making methodology I'm currently using, Not only is he a great teacher of this kind of stuff hes also uniquely creative in his focus, I often find that he has insights And special tips and tricks that nobody else does. ... Keep up the amazing work Daniel!

@Sweetwater I was hoping you would see that Daniel! I have been watching you for years now but I came to that realization in particular after your video on playing guitar styles on rompler type keyboards . It is just something that's so awesome because for example that video help me conceptualize and gain insight into BOTH types of instruments. The common and useful spelling of chords on them as well as the relationship that playing them in certain ways allows for like playing legato or with attention to sustain etc. Eg that the function and structure of the MUSICAL approach is just as present in your joy in and knowledge of the sound design worlds we electronic music folk love to obsess about ;)) And that's my point, of course you are a very skilled musician and a great communicator but this video is just another example of that great personal insight into these tools. I mean that you kick ass/thanks for your contributions to the community! ;)

Love, love, loved that patch and performance at the end. Thanks, Daniel. Your videos always teach me more than I expected to learn. I look forward to seeing more with the Matriarch. I also have one and really enjoy seeing what other people can do with it.

I like two octaves between, the lower being a saw and the upper being a small square for bass and lead sounds. I heard klaus schulze do this once

Wow, that is a Jedi mind trick. Such a cool tip - putting equal temperament to shame one synth at a time >D

Nice! I'm not that familiar with the 4 Stooges "Hello" so for the Minor 7th I will use "The LI ttle lord Jesus..." of Away in a Manger. And for the Major 7th, I hadn't heard of your examples so I'm going with Willy Wonka's "Pure Imagination" where he says "... in a WORLD of pure imagination". Yes I just grabbed these off a search but they might be helpful.

those 7th chords made me think of sweet georgia brown. "oh , a wise guy eh?" (I use the old star trek theme to get the octave then a half step down for that major 7th stretch edit: chicago was my first rock concert ever in jr high and color my world and 25-0624 were huge) synth idea: make the edgar winter frankenstein sound on an arp odyssey, or how to create atmospherics like waves and seagulls on an analog (dont try that on a DX7) or how to hack a wavestate so i can put my own frickin atmospheric wavesamples in. lol PS. did you know that the UNO touch-keyboard is polyphonic even tho the synth is not?

I appreciate that you're utilizing this as a marketing tool perhaps for the Moog, but you might have mentioned the chord memory functionality available on many other synths that lets you do this quickly and easily with a button push (and polyphonic capability) rather than manually tuning independent oscillators.

@Christopher Parsons I'm not at all criticizing, and I agree, this is a valuable introduction to ear training. However, the specific method he is demonstrating is applicable to one type of synth only, whereas this technique of learning/utilizing intervals can actually be used on many polysynths as well, as I stated. It's equally applicable to them, only you're setting the intervals by playing them rather than tuning them manually on oscillators. BTW, I too have a Hydra, it's my favorite synth in over 30 years of synth ownership!

Hi Scott. I do not use Synth Clips as a product marketing tool. I simply try to choose an appropriate synth for each example. As for Chord Mode, is it possible that you overlooked my Synth Clips episode 19 titled "Using Chord Mode"? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqbWfaulfZiHZtU -_Daniel_

@@sweetwater Thanks Daniel! I did miss that one! I know they're not intended a product marketing tool, but I bought an SH-01 from Sweetwater (with your patch pack!) because of your videos, so that's obviously a happy side effect. :) I love that you feature the Hydrasynth so much in these videos, in 30 years of playing and owning synths, it is my favorite of all time.
