Thank you for a good info. I hope all who are thinking about having bird as a pet would watch this video before they go and buy cage. ( sorry my spelling mistakes 😜)

I really like this video!! These are the little details that most beginners miss due to lack of experience and end up regretting their expensive purchase and end up having to buy new cage or even two. I know I did back in the early 00's when I got in to parrot's. These are usually thing we learm by try and error and these kinds of videos can be really helpful and haven't come across until now and this subject needs more attention. These are the things I tell people who are buying their first cage or have trouble with their current ones. Really good and clear quide!

One consideration I wish if you talking about; (breeding bird cages). Bird cage divider for mate

😅😅
@Loveofpets Жыл бұрын
There are breeding cages with dividers. Canary breeders most often use them. They put the male on one side and the female on the other side so they can get to know each other and then remove the divider when they are comfortable with each other

Really needed info. My Green Cheeked Conure is in the cage my cockatiel used, my Conure loves to climb & has plenty of space. He is very happy. On the 12Th was 1 month since we've been together, it seems so much longer. I am safe in my cage choices. Great research work you have prepared❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊

Great info that covered everything! Unfortunately, some brands are not sold in certain countries. Even though one can almost get anything online provided that the seller ships internationally, sometimes the international fees and taxes exceed the price of the cage.😅

That's true. I see some nice cages, however the shipping is more than the cage

Very nice in-depth video, but some of the cage sizes are incorrect, if you’re talking about twice as long as the birds wingspan. In particular: cockatiels and green cheek conures. GCC wingspan is 15.5, so would need a cage at least 31. Cockatiel wingspan is 20, so would need a cage at least 40. Even if it’s only 1.5x, the cage sizes you said would not be suitable for either species.

Very helpful, thorough and informative survey of bird cages, as I am in the market for a bigger more suitable cage! 6 weeks ago, I adopted two 2-1/2 yo budgies (M and F) from a non-abusive home. Budgies had to be rehomed due to former owner's health issues. The cage they were in, which is definitely too small for two budgies, will probably be used as a night cage after I get a bigger cage. I noticed when you discussed round cages you briefly showed a picture of an Omlet Geo Dome cage but did not discuss it at all. I absolutely agree that cylindrical cages are too small, taller than wide, and dangerous as the bars narrow at the top. I can't tell what your opinion of the Geo cage is as you made no comment about it, but I suspect you may consider it one of the unsuitable round cages? However, while it is usually lumped with the dangerous and small cylindrical cages, it is actually a geodesic dome shape, and is designed and intended only for finches, canaries and budgies (up to 2 budgies, up to 2-3 canaries or finches). Having done extensive research, I find opinions on the Omlet Geo cage seem to be firmly on the extremes -- either violently opposed or definitely in favor of. The thing is, when I did my research, I discovered that the naysayers had almost NEVER tried or tested the Geo cage at home with real birds -- at worst they only saw a picture of it, at best quickly skimmed through the Omlet website, and without any further research, IMMEDIATELY slammed it as a totally unsuitable, flimsily constructed, too small and dangerous round cage (even though none of its bars narrow to a point) that would be a fate worse than death for its unlucky inhabitants. In some cases, outright hatred and vitriol would correctly describe the reactions! YET those bird owners who had actually purchased a Geo cage, and most importantly, their birds, LOVED it! Yes, there were some criticisms (on the pricey side, could be challenging to put together, no bottom grate or slide out tray among others) but budgie owners liked an easy-to-clean cage, debris outside cage virtually eliminated by centrally located food / water dishes that captured hulls for easy disposal, birds had room to fly in any direction, 3rd party accessories (toys and perches) can be added to customize, and a very esthetically-pleasing design. Owners also often stated that when given a choice between a rectangular cage and the Geo cage, budgies often preferred the Geo. Even JamieLeigh at Bird Tricks tested the Geo for her budgie Blueberry and gave a very positive in-depth review video. To complete your wonderfully extensive survey of bird cages, I would encourage you to research, actually test and review the Geo Dome cage. While it is admittedly on the pricey side, my opinion so far (I have not purchased but am considering) is that it is a cage of quality and sturdy construction, and has been unfairly maligned by folks making snap judgements without doing any research or testing. As a bird influencer who does her due diligence, you could provide an in-depth, thoughtful, honest and balanced review of this very unique cage style.

I seen the video on BirdTricks and agree with her that it seems like an okay cage. I wish I would get a sponsor of the omelet cage and try it out myself. It looks like there is a lot of space inside the cage

This was once of the most informative videos I have ever seen. You clearly know your stuff. I do have one question. What bar space is too wide for a DYH Amazon. I have an opportunity to purchase a lovely very large cage within my budget but the bar spacing is 1.5". Will that be too wide for the DYH Amazon's feet. Thank you.
@Loveofpets2 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you. 1.5" is a bit too big. 1" is better.

lol I just posted on one of your other videos asking about the spacing and if the gap is too big for a budgie and here is you talking about cages XD so 1.5cm is 0.59in would you consider this too big of a gap?

1/2" is best for budgies

Good info! I cringe every time I see these tall and super narrow cages being sold in pet stores. They're not suitable for ANY species of bird, not even the smallest species of finch. A happy bird is a bird that has the chance to fly from side to side, especially when not given time outside its cage!
@Loveofpets Жыл бұрын
I agree, they are not suitable.

What size cage should I have to fit 10 cockatiels in it what do you recommend
@Loveofpets6 ай бұрын
I suggest a very large aviary as I haven't seen any cages large enough for 10 Cockatiels. Look for videos on how to make an aviary for birds. Have separate cages and house alone or in pairs if they get along and let them out together under supervision in a bird safe room.

Is there any cage to where at the bottom is a flat surface instead of wires. Cuz I don't like the idea of my bird consistently walking on wire. I would like the bottom to be more comfortable for my bird any suggestions?
