Even though this is sponsored, I honestly can't recommend enough getting a robot vacuum if you have birds. Seed and feathers and all the mess they make is such a pain to seek or vacuum every day. I have a robot vacuum and it's legitimately the best thing I've bought this year.

@@lifewithlaffy7931 they’re right. You shouldn’t suffocate your bird with seeds, but seeds are still important as birds do need a little bit of fat.

I keep 31 birds; 27 of them are finches of different species. Four of the birds are diamond doves. They are so messy! I am so grateful to watch this video. I was dreading doing an ultimate cleaning of my two large bird cages. I had decided I would need to take the birds out of the cages and do a pressure washing of the cages outside. Now after watching your video I realize I don’t have to go to that trouble and inconvenience for the birds. I am definitely going to invest in a Robo vacuum with the additional mop function. I already use the vinegar and water as well as the poop off cage cleaner that you featured. I also highly recommend and use natures miracle birdcage cleaner;it is fabulous. Even though I’m a few decades older than you are, really respect and appreciate your excellent bird care advice and will continue watching your videos for a long time. I may eventually get a parrot. Right now I don’t think I have the time to dedicate to one but it’s starting to look very favorable!

...Why did u get a 3 week old bird...? They should still be with their parents. The bird could get shock and die, get sick, stressed, it's very unhealthy to get a bird that is under 6 weeks AT LEAST, it's it's HIGHLY preferred 12 weeks of age
@areum132

@@areum132 U can hand-feed them though, at that age they're still on formula (should be) which means they still need to be closely watched. I’m from mexico and i always wanted a bird, but almost every single person that owns birds here just have them for their singing and sounds, and they don’t take good care of them and they keep them in really small cages:( the other day i saw a man that kept two buddies in a rlly small cage outside in a tall tree, wish i would’ve taken a pic. My aunt has two cockatiels in a small round cage without proper care, and I wanted to get them so bad. I finally managed to get two budgies a month ago in the flea market, and they honestly are scared but i’m still trying to get them to like me and thanks to you i’m learning more things because every bird deserves to be loved and should not live inside a small cage. Toys are really expensive but i just ordered some and i’m getting a big cage in christmas :) thanks for everything!!

Consider these facts: 1) Elle's great at training birds. 2) Elle saying "of course, the birds are gonna want to help with the cleaning process." 3) Birds do a great job of grooming themselves 4) Bird seen in video meticulously removing food particles from atop the vacuum. The obvious conclusion is that Elle should train the birds to clean their own cages. She could help them by providing them with vinegar and cute little sponges. Then of course the birds can turn on the robotic vacuum cleaner, using an app Elle has downloaded onto their cell phones.

Nice to hear, you are also an animal lover like me and have all kinds of animals in the house and birds just like me.. I personally find the robot impractical, it does a bit on the open surfaces, but you just see straw and dust, and so on remain lying around and then especially the corners behind anda lot of dust and dirt remains between the cages. I prefer to do it with a vacuum cleaner. preferably exercise a lot and make sure everything is neat and clean and dust-free in every corner and spot every day. and mop after it. An air purifier machine is also very practical with birds in the house.❤ i love to see your videos and your sweet and positive vibes 🙏

I have 5 parrots. (3 conures 2 lovebirds) And Deep cage clean them all in 1 day. And I did this the other day. I have very bad fatigue issues so it gets so exhausting and tiring very fast. But life of pets , you need to work through it all ! I am also longterm birb sitting an Amazon parrot. So that’s 6 cages I need to clean currently lol. My favorite part is removing all the toys and perches from all the cages. Then plan out who gets what. For a variety of new stuff :D I also have 2 free run rabbits. And the mess they make is insane lol. Rabbit and bird life is just a mess.

Cleaning 6 cages in 1 day is a lot! I'm in awe! I have Lyme Disease and can barely function so I've been putting off cleaning my 1 cage for my two albino parakeet sisters because I just don't have the strength. I'm a perfectionist though so I'm itching to give it a deep clean. Right now I just scrub out the bowls and scrape the perches, get rid of all the dust that accumulates from the food, etc. It needs a good washing though. Keep up the good work!

That means it's in season. Hormonal. It will probably go away when she gets out of her season. It's typical for females. Some of them stay that way after it changes. If it started spreading down the beak or changing colors see a vet.

thank you so much Elle but how do I bath my Budgies
@kiki29073
@kiki29073 3 жыл бұрын
You don't. Offer a bowl of water for them to bath themselves. A shallow bowl. Or in the sink. Mine does it in my hands couped holding them under gently running water. She showed interest in this while I was washing dishes. Don't use hot or too cold water and no soap of any kind. Some will shower with you. Elle has a video about them bathing and so does Marlene McCohen and Bird Tricks.

This is a very late comment but Poop Off really cuts time and increase efficiency! Thanks from 8 months ago when I saw this video! My finches aren’t stressed out as much bc I’m spending less time in their cage!

Elle - i enjoy watching your videos. I have 4 birds and I clean their cage daily to keep their area from getting too messy and smelly and always change their water and food daily to make sure it is fresh and clean. I would highly recommend using gloves whenever you clean and there’s bird poop or any kind of animal dropping.

So I wanted to show you that I am getting two new birds but the point is that I’m getting them from the pet store in Detroit Michigan (not petsmart) they were dropped off from a parakeet hoarder who hoarded 800 parakeets into one small room :( when they were brought to the store they were all crowded into small cages! I’m glad that I can rescue some of them, The pet store was shook after the saw these. Idk if you saw this on the news.

Stupid question probably but is the wire brush going to scrape off the powder coat? I'm guessing if you're gentle enough it'll be okay but I just wanna double check.

OMG i made such a beginners mistake when i first got my bird, i researched everything, except this, so i ended up leaving the cage liner in for 4 days and i realised there was a little green sprout popping through a pile of seeds and poo i was so upset that i had done wrong by my bird i loved her so much but there wasn't much information out there about this i have been guilty ever since , i really thought i had researched everything until this happened IM SO HAPPY THAT THERE IS MORE INFORMATION COMING OUT ABOUT THAT NOW! for new bird owners (im still technically a new bird owner i've had cloud for only six months) so no other birds suffer

Hey Elle, I am about to get a beautiful lovebird and I have a couple questions for you(or anyone)...... I have a gas oven and I was wondering if gas ovens are toxic to birds since certain types of gases are harmful to birds. Another question is, I am going to keep my bird in my room and I have a carpet, is it going to be harder to clean?
@lizziehn5928
@lizziehn5928 3 жыл бұрын
Based on the research I've done, gas ovens unfortunately don't seem real safe for both birds and people - though I'm sure plenty of bird owners have done just fine with them regardless. Usually the main trouble with ovens comes when they self-clean :) As for carpet, it can be difficult to clean at times! Through experience I definitely suggest having one of those office chair mats under the main cage with newspaper under other popular spots, as well as a small dustpan and vacuum.
