There are a lot of capo choices these days. I talk about Shubb, Planet Waves, Kyser, and Paige - as well as spikes, and Pittman.

My experience with the Kyser is that it usually puts the strings out of pitch.

I like the schub capo. I had a kyser but was always afraid I was going to break the strings putting it on. Schub capo very easy to put on. I also use schub sliding capo for 5th string.

Shubb is a great option.

I got spikes installed from the 6th fret all the way to the 12th. I won't play bluegrass exclusively and will take it into other genres where A, C, D and G aren't the only keys that get used. =P

Kaiser capo pulls up on the strings and it is really hard on the frets and if you leave on you head it will we’re down the name on the head I recommend the Page so it has even pressure on the neck

My problem is the capo's usually deaden the sound some, Not that good ring any suggestions,

Could be a number of reasons... hard to tell without seeing your banjo in person. If the notes ring true when you fret them, then maybe the capo isn't applied properly.

How about the basic Bill Russell elastic capo, for about $8?

Used one for years, but didn’t have one handy for the video. They’re just fine, but the grommets come out after a little while.

Thanks for the info. Where did you get your strap I've been looking for a narrow strap like that. Thanks

Larry McKee it's a Huber strap.

While I have you there.. Can I ask a couple of odd questions?? How long should a banjo strap be??? I don't have a strap, and am thinking that having one would make my learning easier.. I've never played a stringed instrument before (or any instrument), and am having problems with the chords.. Do you push hard on the strings, or pull back on the strings??? Sorry to be a pain!!

Strap should be adjusted so that it fits in your lap; when you stand it’ll be in the same place. Press hard enough on strings to hold them to the fret.
