Something that usually goes under the radar when building a motorized bicycle is the type of brake pads you need. Metal/Sintered and/or Organic brake pads. We will check these out and see what each one is good for.

I built a 6.5 hp bmx bike, and can I use a mountain bike hub with disc brake, and lace it to a 20 inch rim. then attach the brake caliper to the front forks or rear tire? I've been working with the stock rear brake on rim set up and it works good. so should I be ok with just a front disk?

I'd disagree about basing your brake pad choice around the type of brakes you have. Hydraulic brakes systems running DOT4 should be able to withstand very high temperatures without issue. Given your changing your fluid every couple of years and you're not riding your brakes then you'll never have a problem.

O dear you are so wrong on so many levels, the sintered pads are better at coping with heat but the organic pads give more 'feel' altough as you said they do wear faster also they hate wet muddy conditions like we have it the uk also those tektro io brakes ar some of the worst tat ive ever had the displeasure of using and in the wet the adjusting screw for the fixed pad winds out leaving the operator with no brakes at all !!!! stay away. If possible use hydraulic brakes because they are better.
