The 24-105 has been incredible paired with the FX6. Handheld looks beautiful with the OSS. Bokeh at 70+ mm looks amazing.

Is FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM could go & match with the FX6? Thanks
@FoxCastleChild
@FoxCastleChild Жыл бұрын
@@otong3994 You'd need to either have a stabilization rig or run post stabilization for the FE 24-70 GMII. It does not have internal stabilization and although the Fx6 provides gyro stabilization metadata, it does not have it out of camera.

Great video.Don’t forget the Sony f4 28-135 G servo zoom lens that I use with my FX6.Image quality might not match a fast prime like the 50 mm Sony/zeiss F1.4 but still pretty good

Agreed. I wanted to get this lens but I couldn’t justify the cost for the servo zoom for my kind of work. Good shout out!

@@Siliconpixel I agree, I use this very lens with my FX6 and FX9 and it's a superb combination for live event filming and zoom focussing is pretty faultless when you set the focus parameters appropriate to the scene.

"Do you really need this". This is not a question that I've ever had trouble with, as the answer is always "Of course I need it". As when I purchased the Sony FE C 16-35mm T3.1, which cost nearly as much as my FX6.

Hi. Great video. I agree with all your choices. I use the same lenses with my FX6 and a7III. I am wondering if you can tell me where you got those speakers stands for your desktop setup. I have speakers sitting on my desk and they drive me crazy. I Need the space back
@MattQuattro

Hey Dudley, thanks for your feedback. The speaker stands are from a while back but I believe they were purchased on eBay. They’ve been nice and sturdy and saved heaps of space on my desk. Hope you can find some soon!

Hi new to this. Considering the Sony fx6 with a 70-300 G lens. Will the zoom rocker on the camera control the len?
@bobuk5722

Hi Matt. The 85 mm is also regarded as a very flattering lens for portraits. I'm a little concerned about you DOF statements. The sensor size has no effect on DOF, thats controlled only by the focal length and aperture of the lens. Pixel density can have an impact on perception as it can make images seem blurred but that's not a DOF effect. A bigger sensor needs a larger focal length lens for the same crop factor and that's where the confusion arises in the minds of people new to all this.
@MattQuattro
@MattQuattro 2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with everything you've said here Bob! I'm not sure how I phrased it myself but I've learnt this lesson before - the sensor size only increases or decreases the Field of View and has no effect on the Depth of Field of the lens. Thanks for clarifying this :)

As much as I'd want to like zoom lenses, I do prefer primes (24, 35, 50, 90 and 135)

I agree with you Guido, I love primes too. However for a lot of my jobs that are very fast paced, zoom lenses seem to make the most sense!

I got the sigma 24-70 f2.8, and the Sony 20mm f1.8 cheaper than price of the Sony 24-70 f2.8. There is nothing wrong with the Sigma version. The 16-35 is nice, but it’s too heavy. The 20mm is super light. I also have the nifty fifty 1.8. For now I use my Canon 70-200 f2.8 with an adapter, but I plan on getting the Sony f4 version, just because it’s lighter.

Sounds like a good lens line up to me! How's the autofocus for video been on the Sigma?
@Panotaker

@@MattQuattro the Sigma focuses as good as the Sony version, plus it’s a newer design. They used to have a dust problem, but they solved that problem with the latest lenses.

Okay, I've heard this myth so many times. "Depth of Field of f2.8 on APS-C is same as Depth of Field of f4 on Full Frame camera"....... Nope. Actual Depth of Field is constant regardless of the sensor size. It is our " perceived depth of field" that changes. Because we're looking at a much larger FoV on full frame, the shallowness of depth of field could appear more pronounced to our eyes at a glance but it actually is the same. The full frame sensor of yours also contain an APSc sensor with in itself (if that makes sense). How do you think adding some more sensor areas around an APSc sensor affect the Depth of Field. That APSc portion of your FF sensor suddenly think "I'm part of a full frame sensor now, so I should behave differently"??
@MattQuattro
@MattQuattro 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Bala, and I agree that you’re right. Actual depth of field does not change between different sensor sizes but perceived depth of field does. While F4 let’s in a stop less light than F2.8 on any sensor, on a full frame, I have a wider FOV and a shallower image at the same focal length compared to APS-C, which is where my ‘equivalent’ comment comes from. That could’ve potentially been worded better and I’ll take your feedback on board.

Very similar lens setup to me and my FX6/a7SIII combo. I have the Sony 24-105mm F4, Sony 70-200mm F4 and Sony 85mm F1.8 lenses. I'll be getting a 35mm prime (possibly the Sony 35mm F1.8) but maybe I'll splurge and get a G Master. I shot a quick project yesterday with the FX6 using the 24-105mm F4 and Sony 85mm F1.8, using Tiffen Black ProMist 1/8 filters on both lenses. 85mm was used for interview shots and some b-roll. When I used the 85mm for b-roll I had a Cinesaddle as well to help stabilise the shots as it doesn't have OSS. You can check it out here if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipOxnKyspdibi7c I shot it in 4K 50p S-Cinetone and XAVC-L... yes I used L instead of I to see how it would hold up for this kind of quick turnaround video and I was happy with the results. Hopefully the audience is too!
@MattQuattro
@MattQuattro 3 жыл бұрын
Nice work! I like the idea of a cinesaddle for the b-roll shots. I feel like the light weight of the FX6 can give too many micro jitters otherwise (like you can see in the 85mm examples). But otherwise hope the 35mm goes well, I won’t be far behind you on that one for sure!
