I’d love to see you quilting on that top. Simple block quilts can be so very lovely!

Thank you - will try puddling the threads. I just completed a multi-coloued quilt where I did audition threads and chose too dark. I went for a mid-grey with a lighter grey on the bottom. The bottom one worked great, but while the darker one was super on the black and the busier florals and plaids, it was too dark on the creamy colours. I possibly should have chosen a green. My husband thought it was fine! It is my third quilt on the longarm, so I'm still a novice! LOL.

No sweat, then! Take what you learned from this quilt and apply it to your next one and all will be well. Sometimes you just can’t tell until you try it.

Beautiful necklace! First thing that caught my eye. Then the quilt behind you. I have seen it before, it's gorgeous! Thanks for all your guidance. It helps alot!

This was very timely for me. I am trying to decide on quilting thread color for a finished log cabin quilt top. The one side is traditional dark and the other light. I will be trying some mid-tone colors. 💕

This stream was perfect timing since I just loaded a multi-colored quilt on the frame. Puddling the thread on the fabric helped a lot in choosing a color. Thanks much! 💜

Hi Susan, wisconsinite here, I tuned in to help me decide which color thread to use. I have a black border with diamonds on point .I was thinking of mirroring a color in the quilt, such a light green.. it would be awesome to find answers like these, but usually I go on my own intuition. Any advice?

What would you use on a black and white or a red and white quilt? TIA
@StitchedBySusan Жыл бұрын
I've used 100 weight thread for black and white. It's quite nice in terms of low visibility, but a bit prone to breakage so I had to quilt quite slowly. I now have some 80 weight - I'll try that on the next one.

I would have picked the light gold, but the dark is good also.

Hello Susan, i enjoyed watching this video on what to think about before choosing the colors for quilt. I do have a question ; what color thread would you use for a quilt that has flying geese in multi colors of green / orange / browns and the background material is black. The quilt backing is a 108 size of the World and the predominantly color is dark brown. Im going to be quilting it from the back - single stitching all the circles of the world (different sizes of circles and continents). I was thinking dark brown for the backing and not sure what color to use for the front with all the flying geese and vintage airplanes( i bought the vintage airplane panel and separated the airplanes and surrounded each one with flying geese and migrating geese). Can you give me our opinion please. thanks.

Would any shades of the green work? Or the brown? I like to pull out a couple of yards of the thread into a puddle and move it around on different areas to see how it looks against the various fabrics.

May time is constantly being stolen for good reasons usually for Quilts of valor I am frustrated as I need to practice free motion quilting
@StitchedBySusan Жыл бұрын
Can you do free motion designs on those? They’re not usually too specific in what quilting they want.

Would the gold on the bobbin then the khaki on the top thread been an option?
