I've listened to both versions and like them pretty much equally. I'm not surprised when different versions appeal at different times in one's life. I can't quite believe composers who played their pieces played them exactly the same way in every performance. And I suspect hearing others play a different interpretation would have been welcome. "Nowadays, I prefer a more subtle interpretation of this nocturne, so I re-recorded this piece to better match my taste." To Your Knowledge: excellent performance....BUT...alas STILL a little TOO FAST. I've SLOWED it down to 0.75 and boy o boy: JUST BRILLIANT. I'm actually working on this piece right now. As there are 'NO NON-PLAYABLE PARTS' this remains 'pretty challenging' because of the many 'turnings and twistings' which Chopin has included in this piece. I mean, if you really want to get to know it 'by heart' it for sure takes time to get things right.

@@Pisceanboi you need to adress rach3master I just answered your question about whether this is a Kawai acoustic grand :P (I'm a different guy)
@rach3master6 жыл бұрын
I replaced the N1 with the Kawai because the action is a little better. Sound is not so important because I'm using piano software sounds instead.
@foucaldianbruno88015 жыл бұрын
@@rach3master Thank you for posting. This is a brillant interpretation. I'm with you Kawai Novus models (both NV10 and NV5) have better action than Yamaha's Avant Grand pianos. However, since they are sampled on their own pianos (even Shigeru model), the sound is not as rich. As you said, it doesn't matter because you use a software. I'm new to piano softwares and I have a basic question, if you don't mind me asking. Do you connect your piano to your computer, and have the sound produced by your computer and/or additional speakers? Or, does Garritan consist in importing its sound library in the actual piano, making it a Garritan piano so to speak? Is the second option even possible? I'm considering buying both the Novus model and Garritan so your help could be very useful (nothing is explicitly said on Garritan's website, which mostly describes their software for people who are already knowledgeable about all this!). Thank you so much in advance! Bruno

The Garritan CFX is probably the VST I like the best out of what I've tried. It's not flawless, since as you mentioned the distinctive Yamaha brightness is present here as well, when I would prefer a mellower tone for the repertoire I usually play.

Interesting how different this is compared to your older upload. I also enjoy this version more. Why did you decide to limit yourself with the dynamic range? (On a side note can’t wait for my Kawai to be delivered)
@rach3master6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, this Yamaha piano VST sounds most beautiful in the pp-mp dynamic range for this kind of piece. Any louder than that, and it is a bit too bright for my taste. Also, I went for a more strategic approach with dynamics, so that in the few sections when I do play louder it stands out more.
