How kind and gracious of you to overlook that the comment was meant for your StarWars video. My mistake in placing.. I just know that you understood. Of course, the Chopin Ocean Etude is lovely as well. And long live syncopation...

Anastasia, I just need to tell you that this video is the BEST I have seen of this piece. I have to perform it in about 10 days, and I was really discouraged watching recordings of it, because they were all super fast but not very musical...my vision for it was to make it sound like BEAUTIFUL Chopin, not a bunch of fast notes. I wanted to bring attention to the beautiful melodies and harmonies and put some rubato in there. Watching this helped me to see that I was on the right track, and gave me some even better ideas! Immediately after watching it, I sat down and played the piece again, and it was already soooo much better! Thanks for caring more about the music and less about being impressively fast! This is what I try to stress to my piano students every day.

I just found this video and I agree, Anastasia surely puts in what's needed in this piece. I can also recommend Paul Barton playing this piece, his version 1. Although the video is old, from 2009 and the sound quality isn't the greatest, I think he really nails it. Alot of pain and passion! ;)

Cheryl Reeder in other words you lack the technical ability so have decided to play it dumbed down to your level and because you are angry you cannot play it at speed you have decided to justify your failure with "musicality" and "beauty". Please.

Most people play the Rythems so wrong. You play this not only correctly but artistfully and with great depth and integrity. Truly a pianist who knows what she's doing when it comes to understanding the language of the score. Bravo I've only heard polling play it this well

How can you play the rhythms wrong? It's just semiquavers

The underlying rhythm of the piece is a sine wave.. not a triangle wave. That's the magic.

I read about Leopold. 1911-2011. He survived both world wars and lived to be a hundred years old, and he treated women who came into his cafe with dignity, always keeping a close eye on them and keeping the slop trough clean. Slop trough is another name for the drip edge or rail of the bar-top... the ledge that collects froth and where patrons place their empty mugs when finished. Very sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Leopold Hawelka. That was a beautiful sketch from the artist, and as usual a very impressive rendition of another Chopin composition.

Hello Anastasia, I wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed watching your videos over the last several months. Your passion for the great composers, specifically Beethoven has sparked a desire for me to revisit some classical pieces I studied as a child. The genres I currently play are Ragtime, Blues, Boogie Woogie and songs that I think would sound good on the piano. Thank you for being the reason that has helped rediscover my love for classical music. Hopefully someday I'll get to see you play live one day! Best, Steve

Hello, Anastasia, This lyric seems like your statement about music and the soul; here it is: "How many of us ever stop to think Of music as a wondrous magic link With God; taking sometimes the place of prayer, When words have failed us 'neath the weight of care. Music, that knows no country, race, or creed, But gives to each according to his need." --Randall Shinn, who taught music composition at Arizona State University. When our choir director and church organist left us, this song-poem by Randall Shinn was used to express our appreciation for his work over the years. I truly hope that our church organist,William Renneckar, has had ,in his new free time, an opportunity to hear you play..am just certain he would certainly have much respect for you and empathy for your style. Thank you so much ,Anastasia, for this beautiful video, and the explanatory comments you write. 🎉🎉❤ ❤❤❤
