There are lots of pianists these days with extraordinary technical ability. But what we have here is different. We have immense dexterity and technical control of the notes with an innate understanding of what dynamics are best suited for each note. That's what make this so ultra special. Every note is contoured and shaped to fit into that string of perfection called a phrase. And here its done on another level indeed. It makes you hang on every note wondering what's coming next because of the performer's capacity to do whatever he wants with each note. As soon as he starts you realize you have entered another world of expressive ability. And that makes listening very different. Vastly different. Thank you for taking the time to share this with the world. I really lucked out today. 1 million views? Should be 1 billion.

Миллиард слушателей будет, он очень молод, пусть не спешит его время. Играет Хаято Сумино великолепно, об этом Вы написали в комментарии, спасибо.

I totally agree! I used to tutor young violinists. I was so happy. They went to Juilliard later. I really miss the time.

Hayato should have been among the finalists in the 18 th International Chopin Competition ins Warsaw.

I like him too, but to be honest in the third stage he was losing that rather delicate and elegant control compared to his performance in the second stage

To say the very least! It was a crime.

@赤刎影鬼越 I think his second stage was the weakest of the 3. Stage 1 excellent. Stage 2 too rushed from the Waltz onward. Stage 3 a bit fatigued towards near the end. His playing in the preliminaries was strong and impressive. We all have different impressions.
Did anyone notice that when he started the middle section at around 3:12, the sunlight color around his room changed? Like it's shining a spotlight down on Cateen as he prepares to serenade us with his soft touch and musical interpretation? It's so beautiful and nostalgic! Wowow, just noticed at 6:42 the room changed back to its original color after he finished the entire middle passage! If this wasn't a coincidence with nature/sunlight syncing with Cateen, then I don't know what is! (Btw, thanks for the Like, Cateen!)

A very good performance, I would say actually incredible! This can easily compete with the highest quality renditions like the master Pletnev, Horowitz, Kissin. Very good pedal control, voice balance, tone quality, the body gestures are exactly as they have to be - not too big, not too artificial to distract but always on point. The timing mastery is also on an incredibly high level. I am actually in love with this performance. Congratulations!

I've heard a lot versions of the Scherzo No. 1 but that's definitely (in my opinion) the greatest I've ever listened to. It is unbelievable how majestically he plays ever single note.

To bleteen: I respect and share your enthusiasm. . . this performance is phenominal, but with zillions of notes whizzing by at lightening speed, the word "majestic" doesn't come to mind.
