I just listened to Ashkenazy play this. I've liked his playing since the 60's. With all respect, I think Val makes his playing seem like that of a child. she is so accomplished, so heads and shoulders above other pianists of note. Just incredible playing. Thanks so much for the hundredth time for all the superb videos Val.

this piece is not often performed by pianists as it is not one of Chopins masterpieces. But Mrs Lisitsa does interpretate it so well that it gets an interesting work..... I think soon it will be very difficult to find a ticket for one of her recitals as her name will grow more and more.... lucky those who con hear her life in a concert....

How the heck did he compose the HARDEST piece he would ever compose when he was 17? Most composers produce harder and harder music as they get older
@benz14364 жыл бұрын
The technique required for this piece to sound the way it should is probably some of the most Chopin ever used, rivaling his op 46 and op 16 rondo

It's good to know that. I thought you could get a little annoying with that. I think is really amazing you have an own channel in you tube, and share with all of us, you tubers, your work. The other good new is that your DVDs can be getting in amazon. Because I live in South of Brazil, and sometimes the international products don't arrive here, simply. Brazil is not the Lost World! :o) , but sometimes that happens, the purchase are denied to here. Amazon delivers here very well, my luck.

Notice how relaxed her hands are. Yet she gets a very strong sound. Relative to the keys, her hands are dense and heavy, that is, the bio electric field emitted from her hands (is denser than the field of the wooden keys). This is the secret of piano technique. The secret is not in the fingers, since the movement of the fingers is the end result of a process that begins deeper inside the body from the organs, bones and blood. When you learn how to improve your body, this will increase the electrical output. If you are trying to play this piece and it seems unattainable, it is because your body does not have enough energy in it.

@ValentinaLisitsa Of course Valentina likes praise! Everyone likes praise, and someone as talented as she is deserves it very much! Valentina, have you any intention of making recordings of some of Chopins other works, such as the Ballades, Scherzi, Sonatas and Concerti? :) I think you would be wonderful at playing them and I would look forward to hearing them very much!

having played piano in several competitions when I was a grasshopper it makes me question, and I'm sure she wouldn't want to gloat in it, but it makes me wonder if she ever lost a single piano competition in her entire life, I kind of feel like maybe she was not "in to" competing but if she was I am sure after like age ten she probably never lost a single one like the judges probably didn't even know how to write comments for her pieces because they had never heard such precise performances live with their own ears. I would really love to hear a comment from her about this just for curiosities sake.

I tried looking for a solo piano transcription, but couldn't :P I think she took the original orchestral version, and transcribed the missing pieces herself for a complete solo performance...it is my understanding that this is solely her transcription, and cannot be bought anywhere.

Are you really Valentina, the pianist? I can't believe I'm talking to a great artist. When seeing your videos I've read some comments where some people want to find mistakes to perfection. I used to play piano myself with some public exhibitions. I know how difficult is to play in a certain way. I can say I like a pianist more than another one, based on personal opinion, not that someone is better than another one. I wish I could have your technique. I wish I could play like this. Thank you.
