Bristol - Abbey (Protestant Church) - Psalm 148: "O Praise The Lord of Heaven"

Bristol Cathedral began life as a Norman abbey church, became an Anglican Cathedral after the Dissolution in 1539, and was almost entirely rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style in the late 19th century.
History:
Bristol Cathedral began as Abbey in 1140. The chapterhouse, still standing, dates from 1165.
The Norman abbey church was rebuilt from 1298 onwards, but the new church was still incomplete at the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539 when its nave was demolished.
In 1542 the church was made the cathedral of a new Diocese of Bristol and was dedicated to the Holy and Undivided Trinity.
The nave was eventually built during the 19th century and the building was completed by two towers at the west end in 1888.

Thanks dear friend. All psalms are wonderful for any particular prayer or petition to God Almighty. However, psalms 145 to 150 exceptionally focus on the greatness and the awesomeness of our God. May the Lord bless David the king forever for presenting psalms to all mankind to worship God. Amen.

This chant is by Walmisley. One source for it is the Anglican Chant Psalter published by Church Publishing in New York. Pointing is different.

There is no abbey at Bristol, so presumably the choir featured here is that of Bristol Cathedral. Quoting from Wikipedia: "Bristol Cathedral - official dedication The Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity - is the Church of England cathedral in the city of Bristol, England. Founded in 1140, it became the seat of the bishop and cathedral of the new Diocese of Bristol in 1542...."

Actually, Bath Abbey is a parish church of the Diocese of Bath and Wells, and not a royal peculiar

A number of the cathedrals had been abbeys that,t the time of the dissolution, became simply diocesan cathedrals. Westminster did not become a cathedral, of course, since it is within the diocese of London; nor did Bath, whose cathedral is at Wells. The chapels royal are royal peculiars, and were so long before the time of Henry VIII.

Here's an idea. Instead of endlessly repeating the same psalm, why not chant psalms 148, 149, 150, and the Benedictus from Morning Prayer. One finds this practice in the old Benedictine rite for daily Lauds.

To the poster: could you please identify the music and choir when you post these excellent videos? Also please do not identify every Anglican church you have posted on You Tube as "Protestant". There are many Protestant denominations but Anglicans are not among them. The Anglican Church is a catholic (universal) church like the Greek Orthodox and Lutheran churches. But not "Roman" catholic. Yes, the Anglo-Catholics are in the majority now, but don’t completely erase history. The Church of England and her daughter churches are historically Protestant.
