The perfect confluence of this voice and that arrangement. Friggin magic. There are VERY few people who could do this, BRAVO

Huck, come see my video edit of this recording. I'm a filmmaker and I actually want to submit my two videos of Matthew to the Criterion Collection, as they are accepting music videos nows. It's a recent upload of mine, so you it should be at the top of my videos on my page. - Your, _Acoustic Rabbit Hole_

It's so rare to hear a guy who has a fully-formed soprano range like this. I've heard the renditions of the Franz Beibl's "Ave Maria" and this is almost without question the smoothest and most actualized version of them all.

Hi Matthew, I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment- but this has got to be one of the most precious covers on KZbin to me. I’ve been listening to it for 6 years now- I have a routine where I’ll head to the beach , look out into the ocean and listen to this cover on windy evening. It brings me so much joy and peace. Thank you for singing this so beautifully. Sending love from Singapore!

This is an absolutely gorgeous rendition of one of my favorite choral pieces. I confess to being blown away by your being able to sing all the parts so well and somehow the perfect blending makes all the harmonies all the more moving. I see you performed with Chanticleer.... it was their performance that made me fall in love with this piece. Thank you!!

Matt Curtis, I only discovered you and your incredible music a few days ago, and I am still in awe. One of the things that really appeal to me is the uniform pleasant expression on all your "faces". This keeps the attention on the music itself IMHO. It's also not like you are putting on a performance to please the masses and get on the Top-10 by entertaining us. This is pure musical pleasure....a very emotional experience. All the different parts are treasured. I don't think I said this right but what really impresses me is that the music itself is the draw. Thank you again, Matthew Curtis. I am enjoying each one of these videos and will continue to do so. I don't know anything about you, but I hope you have the opportunity to teach music to children and adults of all ages. For those of us unable to sing, we can listen and enjoy and quietly weep getting a glimpse here on earth of what heaven must sound like. Thank you.

I had never heard Biebl's Ave until I went to a Christmas concert at the university where I was studying. Almost cried. It was such a perfect piece of music. I took the program home and scoured the interwebs to find as many renditions of the piece as I could. I ultimately settled on the audio-only version by Mr. Curtis. This would've been back in about 2011 or so. I can't tell you how many times I listened to this while pulling all-nighters in college; working on projects, studying for exams, pondering my existence and grasping at the concept of time. This is the first time I've seen him performing it. Though I don't have the range to sing every part, I do know every part. What a wonderful piece and such a gifted performer. When I hear it, I'm transported back to my time at the university which will always feel too short. I'd have done a lot of things differently if I had the chance to go back in time, but I would still have spent a lot of time listening to this on repeat. Thank you most sincerely for sharing.

I had always dreamt of doing something along these lines myself. The "one-man septet" is executed flawlessly. Didn't expect to like the transposition to the higher key, but you really nailed all of the voices - even the falsetto which I don't usually care to hear.
@jacquesberger95158 жыл бұрын
+notsobluebear Sorry, it is NOT falsetto it is countertenor... Falsetto is a strange twist to the voice but nothing in the range.

Even though this is a compilation and not a performance, it's still the closest to Chanticleer that I've heard any recording get. Bravo! Gotta admit, I found myself singing the missing low bass notes that Eric Allatore hits for Chanticleer ;-) But damn dude, that's some fucking range you have!
@davidpulanco27158 жыл бұрын
I've sung with Allatore before. When you sing with him, you can actually feel vibrations from him when he sings that low.
@QBG8 жыл бұрын
I've only sung with one alumnus of Chanticleer, Dr. John Goldsmith, who is a counter-tenor. 'Twas a wonderful experience, but unfortunately no Allatore-esque bass rumbling...
