@@matthalo89 Yes exactly. This concept he's doing and the way he's doing it is what I want every person to know but that's impossible haha. But the value and the thought process behind it is extremely interesting, and gladly he's doing it for as many bands and artists as he can 🙌🏻

Thanks for this one David. Been a KISS fan since 76 (9 yo) and I was one of those guys that used to have a massive collection, unfortunately sold it off in the late 80s (would be worth a grip today). I'm also a huge Ace fan. Agree the "Classic" KISS is the best. Though I would go a bit later into their catalog then some. I think through "Lick it Up" was good stuff. In Fact "Creatures of the Night" (1982) is, imo one of the hardest rock albums they ever made. Thanks again. Great stuff. Glad that you have done several episodes on KISS and appreciate what they did bring to the rock music world, unlike many other channels on YT that either blow them off or just throws them a bone and move on. They were HUGE in the 70s and a lot of those classic hold up well today. Rock on David!

It's great to see a person of your playing level understand just have fun this band really is. Just catchy grooves they capture the essence of what they are all about. *What about Black Diamond and Strutter? Yeah, there are too many awesome classics to fit in. Back when I was 9 years old, my friends and I would grab some broom sticks and tennis rackets and pretended to to be Kiss, with a record player blaring out in the garage. I'm Ace , your Paul and you be Gene. And you, grab some buckets, your Peter. LOL. So David, when did you first learn of Bob Kulick's contribution on earlier Kiss records? I heard he had to keep it a secret for years. Anyway, your doing a great job with your Chord play and Licks From series. Keep em comin'.*

"Animalize," with some nice lead work by Mark St. John on most of it, and good stuff by Bruce Kulick on 2 of the songs, is actually a fun, very rocking album worth sampling. Also, the other 2 ax-slingers (Paul & Gene) are really the main songwriters and architects of KISS. Detroit Rock City, Love Gun.... King of the Nighttime World. I Want You.

Another amazing lesson, thank you so much David. As I am fan of Ace Frehley as well, I have really enjoyed this one. If I could have a wish, I´d ask for a lesson on Ace´s guitar work from his 1978 solo album. Other than that, I am pretty sure Makin´ Love was played in the key of F, I saw Ace playing his octave riff at the first fret many times. Rock on and thanks again. Looking forward to watching next lesson.

Ace Frehley was the guy who got me wanting to pick up a guitar. I had the posters on my wall, started out playing my tennis racket to KISS records in my room. I stopped listening to them after "Unmasked". They had some good songs here and there, but without Ace, I was uninterested.

Paul's part on Cold Gin mixed Ace's really identifies their sound, especially with Paul's chord inflections using his index finger! I use to be a huge Ace fan, but I'm wondering now how much of the early catalog did he really create, but then again, you can't deny that that was his swagger on stage

Ace all day! Sometimes I would put an album on -- vinyl -- and put just put the needle on the guitar solos -- binging on Ace solos. When you had vinyl, you learned to read the grooves. Listen closely to how the solo for Strange Ways ends. It is as if they cut him short, not letting the note ring out at all. It was a genius way to end a very obnoxious solo.

Interesesting intro perspective. I'd probably fall into that camp myself, despite as bands go, I've actually now in reflection actually seen 'KISS' more than any other pro caliber band when I add them up with only Tesla and Iron Maiden falling short by a show. Kiss 4 shows; IM & Tesla both have been 3 times each. Only a couple more 'local' bands such as Sidewinder, and The Connells beat out Kiss. Weird in one way, but as a lot of my concert attendances were based upon going with ole friends and apparently many of them that are pretty fanatical about the band moreso than myself.😎🤔

Honestly I never really liked the music of kiss except for the classics of course.. rock n roll all night, Detroit rock city, Beth (yes I loved Beth) etc... but when I first saw them in a magazine or on tv I was mesmerized. And... I thought Ace was the coolest guy on the planet. I still do. I stared at the Alive album and its pictures for hours.... maybe days and more. Man I wanted to be rock n roll star. When my friends and I started a "band" in 1974 maybe 75 the first question I asked was how will we paint our faces!!? Ace is the man and Kiss is the band! You wanted the best you got the best, the hottest band in the world... KISS!!!

Yep , KISS in the '70's was it . They were the only version that worked well . Not putting any other member since then down , especially Bruce Kulick , he's good too . But none of them are Ace . I was actually a Peter , started on drums , got to expensive for a 13 yo , then switched to guitar . And Ace was the one that got me started as I said on the other EVH video . But even showing the different songs , you actually showed an Ace written song , a Paul written song and a Gene written song . Ace also had the reckless abandon a Ed , if it sounds good , then it is good . Also , from Ace's video how to play "Shick Me " , he goes to the d form d sus . Thought I'd just point that out , it does sound slightly different .
