Finally someone made true three string , three note chords in same octave. I have yet to see anyone explain how a three fret chords uses 6 strings with out using progressions from root scale makes sense. This is your best video. This is more like a true lead guitar that can use chords and semitones mixed together. Nice clean sound!!! Please keep going in this direction. If your going back to 6 string cords out of scale please explain it.. But like I said this is how lead should be played..love it!

I really like this video using triads really helped with my use of different voicing especially since I use them in our gospel soloing. Never knew that an old 67 year old could still learn . Thanks again for an informative video. If you had a course in gospel especially southern black gospel including quartet style I would definitely purchase it.

I have been trying to break away from the cowboy chords and this is super helpful. As soon as I get out of work, I'm going to start practicing this. Thank you so much.

This was useful Andrew. A great way to get away from the notion of having to play 6 strings to make chords. Also, thinking in triads gives you a fighting chance of learning how to find new positions for chords without using diagrams, finding your own way around the fretboard. A great presentation - thanks for posting this.

I played metal for years and its very limiting. Then I started to learn the blues and found out about Triads and 7chords. haven't played metal since

These are shapes VERY valuable. There's an economy in the fingerings that come in so useful when I'm playing covers especially with oldies and Motown. I find that I end up leaving room for the bass to hit the low end without getting too boomy.

Who gives a thumbs down to this sort of content... Really? Some people. Well I, like a lot of folks here thought that, this lesson was really useful, and really well done. Loved the intro. Well that’s the next couple of “months” of practise and improv sorted then. Gold, mate, just pure 24k gold. Oh yeah, greetings from Brisbane Australia.

I have been waiting years for this. My left hand is abnormal and I'm over sixty. I have always wondered, if a chord is 3 notes, then why do I need 4 fingers for an open chord? Also I am a melody player not a strummer. Striking less than 6 strings will be great for me. Thank you soooo very much! This video is my 1st guitar lesson subscribe!

Thanks. However, by only learning the CAGE system properly one can realize all these broken shapes as well. For example in the first part of the video in the key of EMaj, the 4th interval of AMajor triad is being played in the C-Shape of the CAGE system, the E is being played in the A-Shape and the B is being played the E-Shape and so on and so forth. By knowing and digesting the CAGE system throughly, one can easily adopt other shapes and 7ths and 9ths into the playstyle as well. On the other hand, what I would suggest, is to ONLY play the guitar and make sense of the SOUNDS and the musical relationship between the notes by the ear, and then if needed one can go discover and expand those musical/intuitive relationships intellectually as well. We need to teach people how to LISTEN to each and every note and digest them completely so they become their second nature. Knowing all these theoretical gymnastics on the guitar only helps if one is already familiar with the SOUND of the instrument. Just my 0.2 cents

konnektlive dude for a beginner to learn the CAGED system and your basic pentatonics and it's just opens your playing you almost automatically become intermediate I'd say. Shit some people make a career out of it.
