it goes even deeper than this and even Sea, actually. From their debut, Namjoon has always talked about being in a desert and striving to reach the ocean. (The metaphor even appears in (one of) the hidden track(s) at the end of 2 Cool for Skool.) At the point that we get to Sea, Namjoon confesses that they've found 'the ocean' but that it really might just be a blue desert (feeling that their current level of fame was fragile and superficial (and also scary, in some ways, just as scary as 'the desert). But recently, he said the quote OP stated, being both literal (as they were in Vegas, literally in the desert), and figurative (meaning that even in their dark times, ARMY keeps them going). That metaphor itself has traveled with them from 2013.

When v’s Hands turn into like a frame that is from spring day. Pretty much everything and each movement has meaning.

I would add that we have gotten so used to the word love meaning only romantic love, that this kind of love between BTS and ARMY is not often called love. But I think you make a good point that it is love, like between family or friends where you just want the best for the other person (people).

Pretty much everything in this music video all the props, the outfits, hand gestures, to their sitting arrangements at the beginning and the end are references to their older music videos. There are a lot but one I will mention right away is in their debut music video No More Dream from 2013 it starts with them on a school bus and they get off of it and now 9 years later they are back on the school bus.

This song had be balling like a 3 year old and I’m 48. I’ve been ARMY since 2017 following closely their career. To hear my boys that the past was the best as a group BUT their individual selves best is yet to come hit me so hard! To know they started with their No More Dream song which begins with them on a school bus fighting unrealistic expectations to ending this chapter with them recreating the Spring Day scene but on the school bus is so symbolic. BTS always hits differs.

This video is packed with references to their past MVs. It probably doesn't hit as hard for you. Sand angel is from blood sweat and tears MV. The carasoul is from spring day. The container behind RM is from run. When Jin puts his hands up in the air, that's from the very end of their choreography from fake love. When Jin puts his hands in front of V's face, that's from blood sweat and tears. The school bus is from their very first MV...no more dream. The final scene, the camera movement, the member placement is from a scene from spring day.

Yes, the more I watch the more I cry. The video hits people differently, for those who know all their music (and can recognise all the references to their past mvs) to those who don't (but still get nostalgic feeling) but everyone can enjoy it and take the message they need from it. I agree with you that they use their platform so well to bring joy and positivity to the world. They personify positivity and love despite all the hate and hardships, they are so inspiring. I cried… and all those backgrounds (bus, angel, train, etc…) were in their past videos. The bus scene at ghe end us the train scene at the end if Spring Day MV😢 They were going on hiatus due to their military service, so this MV is saying goodbye for now, but we’re coming back because… our best is yet yo come.

And she's adorable in her heartfelt reactions! But for someone who isn't familiar with many BTS mvs, many mysteries will remain. Some objects remind us of a significant prop, and some poses are from the original mv dance moves! (There are dance moves to talk about; you just have to do it from memory, lol.) It's fascinating! Hi Lindsey, it's amazing that even without knowing all the references the video still hit you in the heart. That's how BTS gets you hooked, they get you in your heart. They're so real and pure that sometimes all you feel is just raw emotion. So no, you were not the only one to get emotional watching this video. If you watch their Spring Day and Blood Sweat and Tears videos (perhaps you can react to those as well, Spring Day was one of the first songs that I fell in love with and had on repeat and just had to learn the Korean words to it when I first started watching BTS), you may recognize some of the symbols in this video. I was missing your reactions Lindsey and especially with the slew of dance practices that Hybe (BTS' company ) released for their anniversary I was eager to see your reactions. I was surprised to see this reaction since there is no dance choreography, but I love that you did. It was great to see a reaction from someone so new to BTS who does not have the background and so sees this MV with a different perspective that is just as valid. I'm sure someone will already have mentioned that this video is stuffed full of references to their previous songs and MVs - and I love it. There are some that are obvious, and others that are only a glimpse, and very easy to miss, but it is a fantastic way to encapsulate this song, which in a way speaks for the whole proof anthology. I am by no means an expert ARMY but I managed to recognise most of the references and am blown away - when you add all that to the lyrics and the message of the song ... wow. Yes so.. all the elements in the video were references to their past works, music videos... as they are closing this 1st chapter as a group (their 1st official mv was them going off the bus 9 years ago and now going back in the bus and screen closing) and this is sort of a farewell song, which you can definitely tell and feel.... This is not a hiatus they will still release group content but for now musically they will all release their individual albums to find their own voice as individuals and artists and in this song they promised to come back and eventually resume to their group activities, but it will definitely be different from now on. Please refer to their Festa video to understand kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6WTmn1te8Seb7M . This is really a message for ARMY, so I would advise to be really careful with this if you do address the topic. ARMY is excited but a bit in a mental breakdown for now so we will not let anyone say any BS, the wound is wide open rn lol. I believe you can watch it in your own time and not record your reaction... They really did not do this for the show and they are being very vulnerable but it can help you understand what's next for them... This came quite as shock but regardless we should support their decision and they truly need it. This will be very interesting to see their growth. 1st album will be J-Hope next month around mid-July and he will be performing solo at Lollapalooza end of July. You were not aware of why all those images were there yet it still touched you and made you emotional. That shows how strong the message is and how attuned you already are to them! Did I cry? Yup...I still get tears when I see this video! This came out before they announced their break and I knew when I saw this that they were planning to go on solo projects for awhile and probably their military service. They are this incredible source of never ending positive energy that just.... envelop you in a warm hug. The message you pointed out "You Never Walk Alone"? It was so beautiful to see you get emotional without knowing any of the references in this music video. It shows BTS' power with their music. As you may imagine, the ARMYs who knew the references were crying hard bc of the references they already understood + the power of BTS' music. I cried so hard while watching this m/v. My crying started when I saw their black pickup truck at the beginning of the video. The black pickup truck is a reference to their BTS fictional universe and storyline of youth, finding yourself, loving yourself, and looking for unity with the test of time travel.

Cry? Um, try like bawling my eyes out, snot running, ugly crying. 🤧 Pretty sure I wasn't alone though. For me, this was sentimental as all the props were link back to past song videos but also a message of comfort. Since the future is so unsure right now and the fact that Jin will have to register for mandatory military by the end of the year....unless they get exemption. Then with scary rumors going around that this album was going to be their last and that they were going to retire, was not pleasant. So this just felt like they were letting us know that whatever is coming, that they will be back. They promised they would be back and that puts me at ease. If they have to take time off to serve in the military, I'll wait for them for as long as it takes.

The shoes is a reference to their beginnings, their debut. The statue is from Blood, Sweet & Tears. This is closure to their first chapter of their discography. The new material is them going forward in a more mature way. Yes you hear the ocean, another reference to the BTS universe…we all cry
