Also, the frame in the front where the Ac drainage is located, you need to have a look bc they tend to rust....so better scuff it nice and throw a good amount of paint! One mine the hand brake doesn't work...seems to be seized! I will try to free it up this summer.

I wouldn't prematurely panick about the AHC suspension. There's nothing inherently expensive there neither parts nor labor wise. The biggest problem is dealers trying to rip you off. On the other hand, AHC suspension is an amazing feature to have.

@@hogman3543 I think you'll find there's a whole bunch of things that can break in a modern car that you can't just fix with a toolbox on a road. But sure, if you want zombie apocalypse level reliability for this part specifically - go with the springs.

Great video and a great car. Timing belt replacement procedure is very straightforward and a pleasure to do, provided you have the right tools, torque wrenches, and the original documentation. I broke my wind deflector mounts by grabbing onto it but they were easily fixed with JB Weld. The AHC fluid flush is extremely easy and can make your AHC system last as long as you want. The problem may come from rusting AHC tubes running along the frame. Mine rusted, so I had to buy a roll of Nickel-copper tube of the same diameter, a copper sleeve at Home Depot , silver solder and got it fixed with a blow torch. When replacing the front shocks, you can only cut them with an angle grinder. Don't even bother removing the top nut. Not going to happen. When installing the new shocks, you must create a tool to hold the shock mount in place while torquing the nut. Despite some challenges, everything in the Land Cruiser can be fixed in you garage. The major PITA in my opinion would be a rusty frame. That you can't do by just wrenching bolts. But even that can be done by a determined enthusiast. Good luck and enjoy the family of Land Cruisers.

Regarding the master cylinder, I would strongly recommend doing a rebuild yourself if you’re even mildly capable with mechanical stuff. I did mine and did a write up on lcool forums on what’s involved. The accumulator pump needs to be reconditioned (cost me about $200 aud) and a couple of seals replaced (between the clear plastic reservoir and the master cylinder unit). I think I paid about $350 aud total and spent a few hours doing it but was not at all difficult. Flushing all of the old brake fluid at the same time is a good idea too. Probably a days work on a weekend, worth it!

Fan clutch on mine broke while wheeling and put some nice gashes in radiator. When I pulled it was much smaller than the oem I purchased which explains why it whooshed every time I started the truck. I would also include Rear brake leak fix just remove brake light housing, cleanup previous seal and reseal with silicone Driveline clunck replacing the 2 differential bushing arms and front diff cover bushing

Confirm the fuel pump fuse is the factory amperage. My fuel pump didn’t work I just upgraded the fuse to get home, where I would diagnose/replace the fuel pump. I have been driving like this for 3 years. If a purchaser pointed this out, I would knock that price down.

When I bought my first LX470 the biggest problem was rust. I tried outbat least 12 Landcruisers/Lexus LX470 they were all rusted beyond a quick fix. I like to improve trucks, willing to invest in proactive replacements and overdue maintenance but not in a rusted truck. The leather quality in these trucks is also poor and properly replacing seats is expensive. Moreover, look at the braking system including ABS/VTRAC which can cause big problems and result in hefty bills.

Even if you point out all these "potential" issues... you won't get much discount, especially if the car drives fine right now. If you keep pointing out potential repair items like this guy is pointing out, I guarantee you the seller will just ignore you and move to the next guy in line... just assume the seller has dozens more people wanting to look at the car, right after you leave. Then when you finally realize you should have bought it... it'll be gone... You just lost your chance to buy an LC100. Same thing will happen to the next LC100 you find, and again and again. (I know, because this happened to me) Trust me : If the rust isn't too bad and drives okay, then just buy it. Repairs and maintenance are part of the ownership of any classic cars.

I think so. Because you don't look for a landcruiser when you are just looking for a 7 seater 4x4 SUV - GMC Arcadia, Ford Expedition, Hyundai SantaFe, Nissan Pathfinder are NOT alternatives to a Land Cruiser. it just has to be a landcruiser. It's rare, specific to a purpose, and the overlanding scene is red hot and it doesn't seem to slow down anytime soon.

Going back with all OEM Toyota parts as I want it all working like it did when new. Interior is almost perfect. The hood needs new clear coat, but everything else is good.
