42:09 "There's no chance that somebody else did this, right?" That one hit me hard. The desperation in that voice, praying for a miraculous twist that would only ever happen in kayfabe. It shows exactly how warped a parasocial relationship can be.

Some are still convinced he didn’t do it. All because they are unwilling to separate the wrestler from the man

I lived approximately 10 mins away from the Benoit's residence in Fayetteville Ga back when this happened, there was a Gold's Gym in the Fayetteville that I used to work out at and Chris Benoit and his wife Nancy worked out at that same gym this was around 1997..I only saw Chris and Nancy there one time, I was working out and at the time I had been probably working out at that particular gym for about a year, so I didn't even know that they were members at that gym..I saw Chris and Nancy walk in together and they seemed normal, no one really bothered the two of them, not sure why but all the other gym members just continued to mind there own business, no one really asked him for a autograph or anything..maybe it was because of his size and stature or something because he wasn't that tall maybe 5"10 but even if u didn't know who he was which I did, he wasn't mean mugging or anything, but he didn't look like he was very approachable, or at that's what I observed..when I finished my workout I went to the locker room it was me and my workout buddy in there when Chris walked in and my buddy got up the nerves to speak to him by saying hello, Chris spoke to us by saying "hey what's up", then my buddy ask him if he was a wrestler and if he was in the four horsemen, every answer was a one word answer, yes or no almost like he didn't want to be bothered, which I completely get it and understand that when you're a celebrity..he definitely didn't seem to be a talkative people's person.. I told my buddy don't say anything else to him, lol..this video took me right back to that moment and time when I say Chris and Nancy the 1 and only time..kinda crazy that it's been like 13 years since the tragedy happened it's still shocking to me and is something I will never forget..

Its always funny when these soft millennial kids who doesn't know anything about life pretend that they're 'hard'. Everyone IS entitled to their own opinion, but you should reserve judgment until you've lived a lil. A man losing his mind to the point where he snaps and murders his wife, his child and himself isn't tragic? F-ck off outta here, you weren't in that house. The guy had neurological damage, the coroner said his brain was in the state of an 80 year old dementia patient. Anyone who knew Chris said he loved his son more than life, and he had to have lost his mind..aside from that, his friends and family mourn him, too. In the future, if you have nothing intelligent, kind, or original to say or type, put the c-ck back in your mouth and your hand back down your pants.

It is such an unfortunate thing to happen. As horrible as it is, if there is any possible way to take away something positive from this, his death may have saved the lives of many others. WWE ramped up the drug testing and banned weapon shots to the head after his passing.

@@jimcheung3527 You could try to prevent those kind of tragedies as much as you want but at the end of the day you just don't know. Chris was most likely a sociopath that was going to do what he ended up doing no matter what. It's no such a coincidence what their close friends say about him, there was always something a little bit off and the result was this whole incident. Unfortunately WWE had this one case in a million. I don't think another tragedy as such as this is ever going to happen.

This was fanatical religiousity mixed with CTE and homosexuality Aaron Hernandez fought rumors in high school of being homosexual. His deteriorated brain made him impulsive to defend against similar accusations as a adult which led to murder. Benoit is the same thing in his later years he became extremely religious. He felt if he left the earth his family would come with him. He felt he was saving them from a evil sinful material life. Those beliefs mixed with a deteriorated impulsive brain led to murder. He wrote "I'm preparing to leave this Earth" that insinuates psychologically he did not anticipate dying. He thought they were moving together to another place.

@@Funeral_Tango I think so too. The murders were very deliberate and thought out. If you look at the crime scene photos where the bodies were found, everything looks calm and in place. I think Chris was hearing voices or suffering from some kind of religious schizophrenia where he believed that the world was too painful, and it would be selfish to leave his family behind. He knew his family would suffer without him if he ended it all, so he brought them with him, so they'd find peace and stability in the afterlife. That way, they could be with their lost friends, and get away from the physical pain, mental pain, drug addiction, marital strife, etc. He wanted to put it in God's hands. Who cares if people thought he was a murderer? He'll let God understand the pain he was in and that he believed he was doing this for the right cause. We humans can't comprehend his actions. Only God could understand, judge, and forgive him.

If he had only taken his own life? Then so be it but it’s that fact that two innocent people could still be here with us today and that could’ve also been his other son David or his daughter Meagan if they had been in Georgia that weekend, if you listen to all the interviews about this Chris was actually going in and out of reality. I get the fandom. I was 10yrs old (and beyond) watching him in the stampede pavilion with Bret, Owen, Davey, Dynamite even Jericho. The things these people come up with are hilarious in there absurdity. My faves: He came home and his family was already murdered and then he was killed (by Sullivan or "the mob"). Couple problems with that. Not a fingerprint, footprint, fiber hell no dandruff...impossible. He owed the mob? Really? Not a single person has come forward and said benoit knew anyone shady. If he owed money. He knows a couple millionaires and quite famously a billionaire. He never overtly asked for help I can believe, but the people closest/traveling with you would notice if you had financial problems. His brain was damaged from concussion. Ok, I accept that. The problem with him having the mind of an 80yr old....he never forgot lines, missed spots or was found wandering around an airport. Was there damage? Yes. Was it why it happened? No I don't even want to get into Kevin Sullivan nonsense. I feel bad for that man. Benoit got angry that night. He killed Nancy, spent the night in shock/horror about what he did to her. He thought about taking his son and making a run for it. Decided he would never make it. He spoke with Daniel in the morning, asked if he had heard or saw anything happen. No matter the answer to that question he told him he loved him and was going to get him a drink milk/juice. Mixed the drugs in and waited for them to effect Daniel. He smothered him but didn't know he was dead for sure and went and got a knife from the kitchen. Returning he checked one more time and Daniel was dead so he knelt beside the bed and put the knife down and "prayed". He spent a lot of time doing this and simply forgot the knife. Never returning to that room, he researched and planned to kill himself. Not sleeping the entire time so when he spoke with chavo he sounded odd. Put the dogs out, sent the texts from his and her phone to ensure whoever was going to find them would be safe. Sometimes (like always) things are exactly as they appear.

@@garygantz1053not going to argue against much of what you said. I myself thought that they were killed by someone else for quite a while. About his brain though. When they first got to his brain, it was described as "liquified" only 24 hours after death. The people that analysed his brain said his was in the worst condition of any other analysed up until that point. His thing about the brain being compared to an 80+ year old Alzheimer's patient with dementia is not to say he has the exact same symptoms, but that the extent of the atrophy of his brain could be best compared to that of someone twice his age with a severe degenerative disease.

It's so disheartening to me that domestic violence and violence against women in general is so normalised. This whole notion of understanding how Chris can get to a point of brutally murdering his wife but they draw the line at his son is just sickening. Nancy was a human being and no matter what disputes you have with your partner, you are automatically a monster for brutally murdering her. Benoit broke her fkn back. When states like colorado used to use upright jerker gallows to hang people as opposed to the long drop method which was more scientifically complex they would routinely use at least 1 1/2-2 times the persons body weight to ensure that the neck was broken the moment the weight was dropped so I think that in some way his decision to use equipment that wasn't designed for hanging a human being and insufficient weight to break his neck was some form of penance on his part for what he'd done. As for what happened my theory is that he and Nancy were drunk and got into a heated argument of some sort then she hit or attacked him and he tried to restrain her inadvertently killing her, then over the next 24 hours once he sobered up he realized what he'd done and his mind began to unwind because he knew he could face a long prison sentence or even execution for what he'd done to Nancy (georgia juries don't tend care about mitigating circumstances like being intoxicated at the time the crime was committed if the accused is facing the death penalty for killing their spouse) and he didn't want to leave Daniel behind to suffer alone without his parents so he decided to end his life and take his son with him to protect him fro the shame loneliness and humiliation of being an orphan due to his mother being dead and his father being in prison or on death row.
@JPFRANCHISE87
@JPFRANCHISE87 8 жыл бұрын
Hammerhead547 it's a rational theory, and I kind of had a similar theory at first however, the manner in which Nancy was killed on that Friday was not a "drunken fight" that unintentionally went too far. He brutally and heinously murdered her. Her limbs were bound with electrical cables, and then he proceeded to strangle her while forcibly pressing a knee into her back. It's easily the darkest day in professional wrestling and the worst incident to ever take place in a business where so many of our childhood favorites have dropped dead before the age of 40. The worst part about it for fans, friends and obviously the families is the question that will never be answered of why

What i think may have happened is they got in an argument and she was threatening to divorce him,may have insulted him as a man and he snapped . Respect to him was a big thing he was a bit intense,insanely intense,the thought that he could never get the respect he wanted from his wife may have driven him over the edge he may have tied her up thinking he was going to teach her a,lesson and then beat or tortured her but realized that if she ever lived to tell about this hed be locked up for a long time he had to go all the way...years of depression,anxiety whatever all came out in a brutal murder and he got lost and caught up in the horrible act and it took him time to come to the realization that he had to kill himself.im not even going to attempt a theory about the son except nancys sisters theory that he may have thought that if the son lived it would break the child knowing what his dad did. Theres no excuse for what he did just a tradgedy. God bless the souls of nancy and daniel. I used to be a big benoit fan but this occurence was the day wrestling died for me

He would never do it in a clear state of mind. I wish it never happened. And yes if he was supposed to die in May 2008 then so be it. But then he wouldn’t be erased from history which I think if he was alive he would be heartbroken. I want to play him in every WWE game ( after SVR 2007 ). It’s not the same to play him as a CAW from Community Creations. RIP Chris Benoit ( 1967 - 2007 )

I hate to be that fan, my guy, but you really need to finally wake up and grow up about the situation. Chris Benoit was not a nice guy. He had a history of domestic abuse and well documented marital problems with Nancy Benoit. There's TONS of text messages from Nancy in which she flat out calls him out on his steroid addiction, his steroid fueled mood swings, and even him neglecting their son Daniel in favor of the business. Don't forget that Nancy was in the business way before she met Chris. She knows what these guys used to do backstage behind closed doors and what the culture was like backstage. Not to mention his reputation for being a backstage bully and hazing the younger guys. It's time, dude. It's 2021. Fuck Chris Benoit!

Dave knew what Benoit did by 4pm Monday so if he knew WWE knew yet they still did a tribute show???
@AgusVilla1.
@AgusVilla1. 6 ай бұрын
Let's assume that they did knew, they couldn't do anything. The show was about to start and they were in an awkward position where they had to do the tribute show anyway. Their peers were unable to wrestle as they were all saddened and shocked about the whole tragedy and plus it would have been ridiculous that the Vince McMahon's angle just went on as it nothing had happened.

I know that the concussions weren't really part of discussion around this point of time but Meltzer trying to root the anger, sadness and evil of Benoit's actions to being called a vanilla midget, dealing with politics in wrestling and the death of his wrestling friends is insulting to Nancy and Danial, there's no way you can justify his actions even when he clearly lost his mind to a number of factors. I love Benoit the performer as much a the next guy but f'him. Chavo lost a lifelong partner, a good friend and I don't see him committing double murder-suicides.

I have an idea on how to get Chris Benoit into the WWE Hall of Fame: psychic mediums. In an episode of "The Haunting of...", psychic medium Kim Russo talked to Owen Hart's ghost. Maybe Kim Russo can contact Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel's spirits and ask them what really happened inside that house down there in Fayette County, Atlanta, Georgia, that way the Fayette County police can re-open, re-investigate, and re-close Chris, Nancy, and Daniel's case, that way all of us wrestling fans can finally find out what really happened. Conspiracy theorists think Kevin Sullivan or whoever murdered Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit. If that is true, then where is the evidence? That is the only way I can see Chris Benoit go into the WWE Hall of Fame. Thumbs up if you agree.

Alvarez and Meltzer talking about how Benoit's style of wrestling could be possibly linked to him potentially being a psychopath is utterly pathetic. Truth to be told Benoit's demise was rooted to his ring style who Meltzer loves so much because he's so much of a mark for the wrestling business that he just simply can't see that promos and creating a character is as important as the in-ring. It's so sad that there's wrestling talent out there who kill themselves for an extra star from this mark instead of following Hulk, Rock and Austin example as the career path you should follow.
