Chris the bridge burner here - just to elaborate. Not been a fan of Mr Beast's content for many years now, but like many KZbinrs I just ignore it and thankfully his videos never appear on my homepage. However, seeing him partner with Logan Paul, a man who's done nothing but awful act after act for almost a decade now just made me snap. It may have been six years but I still have the dystopian fucked up image in my head of Logan Paul vlogging himself in the Aokigahara forest, mocking somebody who was quite literally hanging from a tree before him. And rather than do what any decent person would do, and show compassion and immediately switch off the camera, he recklessly and selfishly exploited it for views. He carried on filming. He joked about it. And then he actively uploaded it to his channel. And while I believe in forgiveness, Logan Paul hasn't exactly reformed his character. He's not a changed man - barely a week goes by without a new headline of some outrageous, awful shit he's actively partaken in. So to see the world's largest KZbin gleefully partner with a man like that and endorse them to an audience of tens of millions of kids is something that just sickens me, all in the name of some disgustingly tacky food product, again aimed at children. I'm not sure what counter argument he has up his sleeve this time, but you can be damn sure he'll exploit his 'altruistic' philanthropy the first chance he gets. It's a sad world where acts of charity are no longer selfless acts of kindess, but corporate defense mechanisms deployed in the face of legitimate public scrutiny.

@@LelChiha The way I see it is, Chris doesn't really need to collab with anyone. His content is about him and what the country of japan has to offer. He runs solo. If he lights a torch, it'll either pull him into a drama he doesn't want, or it might burn bridges with people he does like, but are affiliated with Mr Beast. Who, according to rumors, is a bit of a control freak. If it turns out to be true, I don't think he'd be above asking his boot lickers to cut ties with Connor. I don't think it would be fully doom and gloom if Connor speaks his mind, he's got a lot of good friends that are far from associating with Jimmy's circle, but the drama might be more troublesome than needed. Plus, with his habit of being online a lot, I think it would get to him more than it would get to Chris. tl;dr, I think Connor either wants to keep connection with some people, or doesn't want unnecessary drama. Its more like an investment than charity, because he will make all of the money he gives away back tenfold, and he does every time. Does it help the people who received? Sure. Does it help Mr. Beast a million times more? 1000% yes. You can't claim you're doing something good and charitable if you are making millions of dollars by doing so. Thats not to say you cant have a public presence and do charity publicly, fundraisers are really great and having a face for them works wonders. That's different from what mr. Beast does. "I mean... it's hard to say... at the end of the day, it's still good." Best part is that discomfort with which Connor says that IS the shield of philanthropy at play.

2:14 was so real!. Everyone seems to think that just because mrbeast is doing so much philantropy it can be an excuse for anything he does. Love chris for being so frank!!

I'm glad to see Chris go off like this. People in the KZbin scene and the whole entertainment industry more broadly need to be more careful about who they associate with. They care so much about building connections and clout that they avoid conflict at all costs, even actively working with people who they should be avoiding. Even if Mr. Beast didn't want to start a campaign to cancel Logan Paul, he could've gotten away with not working with him, but he chose to do it anyway. These people are spineless. I'm glad to see Chris calling them out. More people should be like Chris.

I could tell that Mr. Beast was a sociopath the first time I saw him speak outside of a bit.

This is why i love Chris, a lot of his followers are young adults who knew about him thanks to Connor and Ironmouse but that doesnt mean his content is childish and only oriented towards entertaining them with video games. Chris is a full grown adult and having valid opinions with a very mature point of view is what got him started on youtube. Before vtubers blew up he was out there talking facts about japans political side (and kinda still does) and people tend to forget that about him. This clip is just an average Chris W.

Absolute winning take from Chris. Mr. Beast has always given me a weird vibe. Every clip I've seen of him his mouth is smiling but there is no light behind his eyes. And his philanthropy to me had always seemed like it was intended to garner him adoration vs. being something he genuinely cared about. One minor thing he did that pissed me off relates to his shitty chocolate. He was encouraging his followers to go into grocery stores to rearrange displays to put his chocolate in front of competitors. Retail is hard enough without a bunch of dipshits coming in to fuck up displays and piss off vendors, potentially costing people their jobs.

I could never understand how people could ever move past the Aokigahara thing. I don’t get how there are some figures on KZbin who support him knowing that.
