I had a friend who perished in the tsunami who lived near here. She was an exchange student and the sweetest girl. We stayed in contact for years after and would send cards a few times a year. The phonetics of Isukiri's name is interesting: The way one would pronounce 'Jesus Christ' in Japanese would be 'Iesu Kirisuto', and it sounds uncannily similar to Isukiri. It's kind of fun to think about what implications it has on Isukiri's conception (being made up lol).

Eh, it sounds like a Japanese village name that vaguely and coincidentally resembles the Japanese name for Jesus Christ. I can't really see the uncanny part. Besides, even if Isukiri was named after Jesus, it wouldn't be that remarkable. In Central and South America, roughly 90% of towns have a religious name. But just because some town in Mexico or Peru is called Jesucristo or Santa Madonna doesn't mean Jesus and his mom visited the New World. I mean, Latin America was conquered by Catholics after all. And Japan, too, was home to Dominican and Jesuit missionaries in the 16th century. So if we go by Occam's Razor, this would be a far more likely explanation than some dude from 2,000 years ago traveling eastwards for 9,000km to an island he's never heard of for no particular reason.

Good of you to show Taro. I worked at the elementary and junior high school there in 2020/21. Hearing the accounts of the tragedy in 2011 from the kids and the many testimonies in the junior high school was very profound. I’ve since started writing a manga that will feature a town based on Taro. The Sannoiwa was my favorite place in Iwate. Great video as always.

Well that might have been my favorite in awhile. Just You and Connor cracking up was great. High production videos are amazing but every now and then it is good just to watch mates laughing at something they find absurd.
