The NFL is the most popular sport in America by like 7-10 times lmfao. Nothing else even comes close. And most people barely know the players on their own teams it's only the serious, hardcore fans that know all 53 or even just all the stars on their own team. The real reason behind NFL success and Baseball failure is the because the game is more fun to watch. Simple as that. The most exciting part of Baseball is a great pitcher striking out a great player with a 100 mph fastball. 99% of everything else is lame lmfao. Wheras in NFL football. Every single thing is exciting no matter what. It doesn't matter who you market or how you market them. The game just isn't as fun to watch, bottom line

Now I am waiting for someone from the NBA to say the same thing. It's not as watchable as it used to be. It's going the same way as baseball. Defense is taking a backseat and it's all about shooting 3's.

@@eddierivers3250 I think a couple of things are factoring in on why the current product is the way it is: 1. We are witnessing the ripple effect from the under-development of the college players since early in the 2010's. I would say since Kemba Walker class came into the league. 2. The focus on offense has made players stop practicing defense. I doubt more than half of these coaches even practice it. You can see it by how much people are pointing at each other on blown assignments like open layup lines or uncontested 3's. 3.The results of 1 and 2: Teams at the bottom of the standings aren't getting better with their draft picks.

@@AuburnFanSince2010 Well I did say after, but you are right. That is about when it really started going downhill. Where are all the rookies of the years' at or the kids that were projected as stars in the making? Most of them are role players, who I'm sure most forgot what team they actually play for. All these vets from the 2000''s were still playing better than a big chunk of the league going into retirement. That isn't good.

There are more home runs hit every season now than even during the steroid era. Nearly 40% of plate appearances end with a strikeout, a walk, or a HR. That means that nearly 40% of the time, a play tends with a guy walking back to the dugout, jogging down to first base, or jogging around the bases. In the era of the 8 second Tik-Tok, Instagram, and Snapchat attention spans, baseball does not stimulate young people enough to hold their attention. Hell, I'm nearly 50 years old and after a lifetime with baseball as my favorite sport I can't even sit through an entire game anymore.

Baseball has always been boring. It's a recreational activity more than it's an actual sport. It's also a great cure for insomnia. You go to a baseball game to relax, eat hot dogs and ice cream bars, drink beer, munch on snacks, engage in conversation, etc etc. Let's face it, if 5 home runs are hit in a baseball game, you probably missed 3 or 4 of them, even if you're in attendance.

Move the fences back and at least 10ft or more in height. 1 shift per game allowed. Anyone who makes wants to or makes line up card or pitching decisions must be a Manger no one else (the Manger answers questions by the media for each decision, unlike executives). No starting pitcher can leave game before the 5th inning unless they give up 2 runs or more or have a injury. If the pitcher leaves it counts for a home run (any runners on base score as if a home run was hit). That with Deaden ball would fix pace and strategy. As for front office: Anyone hired as a G.M. or president of a team MUST have or spend 3 yrs in baseball already as a player, Manger, scout, or coach. Much like a bank . To run a bank u need experience in the banking business.

It’s simple. I grew up playing baseball. Played in college aswell. The reason basketball is so dope is because the players can’t pretty much be themselves and show their personality. In baseball when these guys hit a home run they can’t even smile because it’s seen as unsportsmanlike conduct, dude he just made a crazy offensive play, and the same on defense, why can’t they banter more and have a real personality without worrying about fighting or getting hit with the ball. Even golf has more swag/emotion rn than baseball, these young kids don’t care about the old man’s code they want to see people they relate to

'Moneyball' changed the landscape of professional sports, but it gained prominence because it was new. I think there will come a coach or team...in baseball and beyond, that takes the opposite approach and base their philosophy on playing a style that uses all the tricks and methods the analytically driven teams forgot. At such point, the pendulum will swing back to a truer form of sports that entertains.

Baseball is boring because, 1,the game is too long. 5 innings should be the most. 2.the pitcher pauses too long after each pitch. If we had a consistent 1-2-3. And not 1 pitch. Scratch,spit,look around, go to commercial break,come back. Spit,pose and pitch 2. If we had a consistent. Pitching without pauses. We’d have a faster game… more stolen bases. More action less pauses.. more scores.! One hour.. 🤝✊🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

These convos make sense but the argument is gonna be that the game is different and technology is taking a big chunk of the fun out of the game. It's the numbers that are stirring the pot for all the changes.

That’s a problem for baseball. The NFL is amazing to watch on tv. That is why it crushed MLB in ratings. Those are the facts.

I respect the history and legacy of Major League Baseball (Post integration) and I do find PLAYOFF baseball to be very compelling, especially if it involves my Dodgers, but it seems that for some time now, American football has surpassed MLB as America's game. Alot of baseball's unwritten rules and philosophies on how the game should be played is not relatable to today's culture. Baseball is a chess type of game and that's fine, but the short attention span generation we live in today want instant action or else they'll lose interest. Football, basketball, MMA etc. is what potentially will give them that, which is why these sports are more popular today.

He is right. This crap with 3 true outcomes is garbage. Plus all this time between pitches and the rituals all the batters do between pitchers when they could even step out of the box before is also straight garbage. Like have you ever seen Heyward on the Cubs? He puts the bat between his arm and his body, undoes the velcro on his batting gloves, redoes it, spits on his hands and finally gets ready for the pitch. But not when he stands in the box. After every damn pitch. His at-bats take like 3 minutes each. And he sucks.

I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with analytics. It allows small market teams like the rays and athletics to compete year to year. There’s just more parity unlike the other major sports. And if the analytics work, then why not use them. I think baseball just needs to do a better job of marketing players. I do agree that other parts of the game are fading and it’s worsening the sport though. I remember the royals a few years back won the world series with bunting and just playing small ball and it was great!
@omieg89
@omieg89 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Baseball has the most parity because of analytics. I also think you see more different philosophies in team building when watching baseball vs watching NBA or NFL. Most NFL teams are becoming pass heavy and the defenses are mostly about rushing the passer. NBA is about spacing the floor, driving and kicking to shooters. Defenses in the NBA are geared towards defending the perimeter. In baseball, you have high contact teams that run the bases well. Teams that rely on the HR. Teams that work counts. Some teams are built around the starting pitching. It can be flame throwers tossing tons of strikeouts or guys that pitch to contact and you have a great defense behind the pitcher. Some teams are built around a great pen and only ask their starters to go 4-5 IP. The point is that there are more than 1 way to skin a cat. And I think the analytics will eventually make the game a higher quality product. I think hitters have never been smarter at the plate. And I believe the shifting is making the superstars use all fields better than ever. In the past guys could just be dead pull hitters and never have to learn to go opposite field.
