Anyone who makes wants to or makes line up card or pitching decisions must be a Manger no one else (the Manger answers questions by the media for each decision, unlike executives). No starting pitcher can leave game before the 5th inning unless they give up 2 runs or more or have a injury. If the pitcher leaves it counts for a home run (any runners on base score as if a home run was hit). That with Deaden ball would fix pace and strategy. As for front office: Anyone hired as a G.M. or president of a team MUST have or spend 3 yrs in baseball already as a player, Manger, scout, or coach. Much like a bank . In baseball when these guys hit a home run they can’t even smile because it’s seen as unsportsmanlike conduct, dude he just made a crazy offensive play, and the same on defense, why can’t they banter more and have a real personality without worrying about fighting or getting hit with the ball. Even golf has more swag/emotion rn than baseball, these young kids don’t care about the old man’s code they want to see people they relate to

'Moneyball' changed the landscape of professional sports, but it gained prominence because it was new. lol But big Papi is right but he's talking kinda like he was Derek Jeter or Rickey Anderson when he played 🤷🏾♂️

What the hell? He was. One of the greatest clutch hitters ever. Yes he didn't play defense but when he was at bat he earned your attention.

Season is too long, cut it so that it ends by September and the postseason won’t get drowned out by football

Analytics in the emphasis on them has made basketball completely boring and baseball now too.

Baseball being boring. Used to be fun back in the 90s

He is right. This crap with 3 true outcomes is garbage. Plus all this time between pitches and the rituals all the batters do between pitchers when they could even step out of the box before is also straight garbage. Like have you ever seen Heyward on the Cubs? He puts the bat between his arm and his body, undoes the velcro on his batting gloves, redoes it, spits on his hands and finally gets ready for the pitch. But not when he stands in the box. After every damn pitch. His at-bats take like 3 minutes each. And he sucks.

I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with analytics. It allows small market teams like the rays and athletics to compete year to year. There’s just more parity unlike the other major sports. And if the analytics work, then why not use them. I think baseball just needs to do a better job of marketing players. I do agree that other parts of the game are fading and it’s worsening the sport though. I remember the royals a few years back won the world series with bunting and just playing small ball and it was great!

I agree. Baseball has the most parity because of analytics. I also think you see more different philosophies in team building when watching baseball vs watching NBA or NFL. Most NFL teams are becoming pass heavy and the defenses are mostly about rushing the passer. NBA is about spacing the floor, driving and kicking to shooters. Defenses in the NBA are geared towards defending the perimeter. In baseball, you have high contact teams that run the bases well. Teams that rely on the HR. Teams that work counts. Some teams are built around the starting pitching. It can be flame throwers tossing tons of strikeouts or guys that pitch to contact and you have a great defense behind the pitcher. Some teams are built around a great pen and only ask their starters to go 4-5 IP. The point is that there are more than 1 way to skin a cat. And I think the analytics will eventually make the game a higher quality product. I think hitters have never been smarter at the plate. And I believe the shifting is making the superstars use all fields better than ever. In the past guys could just be dead pull hitters and never have to learn to go opposite field.

When it involves a bottom line these companies are always gonna try to figure out a way to keep the money in their pockets. Let's remember it's a money making business at the end of the day. Sad but it's reality.
