It’s actually on a different level in the NFL where a decent year used to be 3500yds 25TD/12 INT. Rob Parker- in a league WITHOUT a Salary cap, when any team can and does outbid a team with less money, you can only succeed by finding players who are undervalued. The people in Oakland determined that the most undervalued skill in baseball was the ability to draw walks- and they were able to cheaply get those players. If they could have gotten ARod, Manny Ramirez and Randy Johnson, you don’t think they would? The “Nerds” are also known as smart people, who should be running whatever they can. Analytics will always exist, it will morph based on the rules. We agree that the rules should be changed because the shift makes it difficult to tell guys to hit the ball hard on the ground.
