Vietnam broke my gf & I up when I was sent to war. We dated all through a small town high school. I'm 1 yr older & gave her a promise ring in 1970 when she graduated from high school. I was already in college. 1 yr later I was drafted, & going to war. She thought she'd never see me again & it broke her heart. I told her to have a good life & just move on. I didn't think I would ever come back alive anyway. This song....I found in 2004. These words- are - were my word too . It took me 35 yrs to find her in 2005. This year, 2023, we've been married 17 years. She still had the promise ring I had given to her in 1970. Never give up on real true love.💞 This song has always been my words. I had not seen her since 1971. In 2005 I found her near Kansas City, Missouri.7 months later (2006) we were married, 14 hours after not having seen each other for 35 years. I would give anything to meet Chris & from the bottom of my heart, I would thank him for putting my words, my feelings, my heart into words. It brought us back together. This time forever. Thank you, Chris. For our life growing old together. 💑

@debbiesuesteele96394 жыл бұрын
@@alexisaldridge241 You know why it hurts, it hurts us because we, no matter what happens, have too much heart and soul; we are still human. It hurts us because we are open and vulnerable and we had hopes and believed in dreams and didn't doubt that one day it would happen. We didn't doubt them because we are honest and it didn't occur that to us that someone we loved could be false. Anais Nin once wrote "We don't see people how THEY are; we see them how WE ARE." Meaning honest people get deceived because we don't see dishonesty in others. You're wonderfully human. Give yourself a hug. Now, rid yourself of the kids for a day, have a bubble bath, some tea or a cocktail. Eat some good food, buy yourself a treat. You'll find life gets better and you have the emotional fortitude to survive. 🤣🙃

Seasons of time show the growth. Including breathing in and out, one step at a time forward, as natural time continues.

This is when country made you feel. No pop singers or clicks, claps and stupid drum back beats.

Listening still in 2022. I lost my husband of 21 years and this song is what I needed to hear today. It's the way I deal with him since he's been gone. November 12, 2022 will be a year since he's been gone

I lost my momma December 2021 and I am still breathing in and breathing out. My dog has been and is my lifeline to this world. Last week I thought I was going to lose her because she was sick and could not stand on her own without help. I hot her to the vet. With the help of medicine and prayers, she is doing well. I know she is getting old. She's 12. I just realized when it's her turn, she will take the rest of my heart with her.

@@ooohhitskaren63 it's so very hard, I got my mom's cat, she is only 4 years old . I treat her like a little princess, told her that we had to be good girls if we wanted to see mommy again. We been good.

December 2020 and this album is as good as the first day it was released even better cuz it's Timeless and it hasn't aged a day. Chris Cagle is so underrated it's ridiculous. Still to this day after all he has proven and done and written and sung just so underrated by the industry very sad but great that he does not conform to Industry standards that he does his own thing it works for him do it damn well works for me
