I can probably see the Liquid saga as being "funnier" (at least in the first half, even he became more grating as Kacey got involved), but I find Alec to be much more interesting. He tapped into something that no other troll thus far has realized. You don't need to be berating or manipulative or hell, you don't even need to be overly assertive. All you really need to aim for is a calm, level-headed conversation between adults. Chris' absurdity then speaks for itself.

in a way it's worse for Chris cause everytime they talk you can feel he really wants to lash out at Alec and give him a piece of his mind, but he blue balls Chris' anger by calmly dismantling his arguments without any malice, essentially taking the anger out of him, which leaves Chris without catharsis, which is why he made so many videos on Alec where he would be free to let out his rage as Alec wouldn't be able to respond in real time, which in turn gives Alec more arguments to use against him and stress him out further with unreleased anger during conversations. Liquid really got to him, but his reciprocating of insults and accusations allowed Chris the catharsis of flipping the imposter off, he can't get that with Alec as he doesn't get bothered or antagonize him, so he can't claim victory over the argument as he can't disregard whatever he says as a just another meanie harassing him, and he certainly can't prove him wrong on when he points out Chris' hypocrisies, he is essentially blue balled and its getting to him in a manner much more insidious than Liquid's impersonation.

Chris' self-destructive patterns are intriguingly disturbing to witness. When he gets insulted and gaslighted, he does whatever they say, but when someone tries to converse rationally with him as an equal in an attempt to help, he only pushes them away and ignores them. On top of that, he blames his problems on everyone else except himself so that he has no reason to improve. He really signed away control over his own life.
@turbovirgin_2 жыл бұрын
Chris seems to be a narcissist, since he always sees others' work and ideas as inferior to his own, which explains why he never listens to people with good intentions and blames all his problems on outside influences. But he also seems to be very emotionally immature due to his arrested development, which makes it hard for him to push back when he realizes he's being bullied by the older kids. He's more likely to make a change if you verbally abuse him than if you ask nicely. This perfect storm is compounded by the fact the trolls are Chris's only friends, so even when they make his life hell, he just keeps going back to them because he can't get social interaction anywhere else. Before you call that vile, remember what he did with his real friends. At the end of the day, Chris doesn't need a stern talking-to, or a good humbling, or for someone to get through to him. He needs a handler and a structured environment. If his parents didn't shelter and coddle him, he might have learned to live on his own and be a productive member of society, but that ship sailed a long time ago. That's my amateur psychoanalysis done with, I'll take my degree now please

@@turbovirgin_ Best I can do is an upvote, but I think you're on to something. It's probably a combination of being.. a little behind his age in mental development.. and narcissism, which I suppose is partially from his upbringing being basically enabling his worst traits, and just innate inability to understand other people. He honestly thinks sonichu is the most important invention of all mankind, so naturally everything else is beneath it, and by proxy his skills at creating art are unsurpassed or else he couldn't have created sonichu. The scariest thing about Chris is how they have so many layers of crazy that you can dig up a number of contributing factors to everything he says, does, or thinks. I honestly think the worst of all them though is just his limited intelligence, he clearly has no understanding of the world beyond the most basic, child-like understanding. If only he wasn't so limited in his understanding and ability to learn new things, he might have even overcome some of his issues and learn what kind of actions lead to him being in trouble. It wouldn't fix him, but it could give him the tools to at least try. As it is, there's no way for him to really overcome narcissism or any of the other mental problems he has, because he doesn't know how and mostly doesn't see anything wrong with how he thinks and behaves. Even as he continues the hoist himself by his own petard, he'll never understand why. He really is the perfect storm of everything that can go wrong in a persons mind.

Maybe it's just me, but I am getting so sick of people overusing and abusing the term "narcissist", as user Turbo Virgin accuses CWC. Who knows if Chris is a narcissist or not, but it's almost a trend now to say someone has NPD when they have any type of shitty behavior that upsets you. The thing is, if you look up information regarding narcissism (or NPD), it's listed as a RARE condition (this is info for the USA). This means less than 200,000 cases yearly. People nowadays are calling everyone a narcissist, and sometimes they don't even know what that really means! This is not meant towards Turbo Virgin BTW, as Chris DOES actually show signs of NPD, but even with that I would not assume he has it since we know he is autistic and has other health issues as well (so these could be the conditions that are causing/worsening some of the issues). I just wish more people would actually take a moment to look up the definition of the word before they go throwing it around every time someone tells a lie and annoys them lol. They would also then see how rare it is. There are many other conditions that mimic the same symptoms as NPD, and there's also the (huge) possibility that the individual has nothing technically wrong with them and are just an ahole! NPD is a serious condition but the numbers of sufferers is nowhere near what people seem to think, and a lot of them seriously struggle with the symptoms ... They are not all out here acting proud of it and hashtagging it or bragging. Instead many have their lives turned upside down and can't stand how they are because of NPD.

Yeah, props to Alec as he kept his calm and he attempted to reason with Chris no different than the sort of perfectly rational adult-to-adult interaction Chris should - at best - consider himself lucky to expect when living and working in the real world. And I say that loosely because even the most level-headed, patient & polite human being could only sustain such composure for so long before Chris would inevitably drag any & every conversation down to the level of a self-entitled, spoilt child. Can you imagine working with someone like that in a job setting who would just simply groan and sigh any time you made even the slightest attempt at countering his endless tirade of bullshit, with nothing but the absolute utmost patience, consideration (even for someone with extreme learning difficulties _far_ more challenging than Chris'), with a perfectly reasonable and logical request or suggestion... for the fifth time? The sighing, in particular, would require some steel-grade frustration-threshold when he does it in that incredibly condescending tone... that comes across like - "No. Fuck your logic, you're too slow-in-the-mind & obviously don't understand because _I'M_ *HIGH FUCKING FUCTIONING* AUTISTIC"

Dispite her legit having a bf most the time they talked n legit told him shed never date him well before that lol. He doesnt want to change his views because he likes lies more then reality. The world where he's a famous comic creator that everyone loves and not some creep that reeks of axe and never showering. He is selfish n entitled, he's ungrateful to anyone truely nice to him like when someone sent him a Playstation n he complained it was the cheapest model the plain black one or somethin. Yeah, it’s downright philosophical. I mean, don’t we as social creatures all do this to some degree? The fucked up mind of Chris Chan is just a funhouse mirror that shows us all of the deepest human psychological problems. We all have confirmation bias, the best we can do is try to be aware of it and confront it… we all want to escape into some sort of fantasy. We constantly run away from fear and pain and run toward pleasure and wish fulfillment. Chris’s firm belief in the real existence of fictional characters rings true to the worst trends of religion - when religion is a dogma about how the world should be, rather than a humbling acceptance of how the world is.

Now I’m not an artist, but people do call me a professional photographer (god knows why), and I use a tablet for touch-ups. I also edit my photos to ensure that they look as good as they can for either myself, the person I am shooting for, or both. If I didn’t manipulate my photos, a lot more of them would look shitty and underdone. There’s something to be said about getting it right the first time and doing as little post processing as possible, and I do agree with this, but it only gets you so far. Hand drawn vs. digital art is a big topic, but Chris misses the point that Alec knocks out of the park. We’re all artists. We’re all in this together. The worst part is I almost wanted to agree with Chris slightly, up until he started claiming the fictional world was *literally* real. But I mean the idea that the author should generally treat the world they create as "real" in terms of, you know, making sure that things follow some kind of logic, and don't shatter one's willing suspension of disbelief. My stance is somewhere in the middle of those two on that specific portion of the conversation.
@nendymion5 жыл бұрын
@@BrawlerGamma I was actually siding with Chris on this particular argument. Although he really should have framed the Roger Rabbit bit as a metaphor and not just flat out call it real. Nor should he have a name change is exactly what the character wanted since he's not the creator of that character, unless he's basing it off of what the character would actually think and do based off of what can be derived from the comics themselves. I honestly believe that Bob and Barb never had a conversation with Chris about fiction. It is so incredibly apparent that Chris has no idea of the difference between real life and fantasy. It is absolutely insane to me that a grown man would actively go out of his way to believe his own creations had their own mind. This is why he believed in Santa for such a long time, he had no idea that Santa wasn’t real. That’s why he reacted the way he did when liquid Chris came into the picture. He completely broke down, threw fits, and tantrums all because in the cartoons if there’s another version of you one is crazy evil and one is a good guy. In his mind he was a good guy so it made sense for the other one to be evil. In all honesty Chris is by far the evil one. He manipulates, lies, Threatens violence, murder, and bullies people into getting what he wants. When he doesn’t he says “I’m sorry” in hopes that people will no longer be mad at him but in reality they’re feelings are still real. Saturday morning cartoons completely destroyed what little grasp of reality he had. It also didn’t help that his parents really shouldn’t of had children in their old age. Even then the fact that they were clearly baby and Chris shows that they had no idea what they were really doing. If my son told me “hey dad I want to have a love quest” I would sit him down and explain how that is really not how that works and life will just give you what it gives you and you’re just gonna have to roll with it. Instead his parents probably instilled in him that the world owed him everything because he was young, autistic, and a very special boy. This is all a big reason why I want to write a biography on him. Just so I can have them all sit around the dinner table at each of them just got to Chris’s in ability to understand that he’s talking to trolls. With Bob and Barb clear learning from the experience and Chris never truly understanding. They understood what was going on but Chris never did in my mind they were not trying to ignore Chris it was Chris trying to ignore his parents. They were trying to help him to leave the Internet.

Some of what Chris said in this video makes total sense; he just didn’t know how to articulate himself . When he addressed Asperchu having behavior outside the control of the creator is no different then when fans of a story or show argue about how realistic a character’s behavior is; we implicitly impose our logic into the craft with or without offense to the creator. Also, fictional characters do exist in reality on a certain level, otherwise these hypothetical and speculative conversations concerning who these characters are could not be undertaken. Just because we misunderstand Chris’s dialogue concerning these concepts do not in itself invalidate the concepts. Now of course, later on Chris gets worse. But at this point in the series, I was able to follow Chris’s logic just fine.
