(disclaimer: armchair psychiatrist) I think he exhibits some form borderline personality disorder. He’s obsessed with his image and reputation. Empathy is feigned when he might get something out of a friendship, like romance or sex. Other than that, he has no regard for the feelings of others. It’s all about what he wants. He seems to apologize with canned responses, but only when people hold him accountable. When his sincerity is challenged, he blames the autism. I might be wrong, but I don’t think the two are linked. I feel for him because of the humiliation he’s endured, but then I’m not sure if he feels any sense of guilt. I think that’s what makes this so fascinating. We have the sociopathy and the autism, and that combination leads to some very ‘unique’ circumstances.

He actually really is high-functioning autistic under the old terminology. Low-functioning autistics were people phisically incapable of taking care of themselves: they didnt had the mental capacity to talk, clean themselves, feed themselves, etc. High functioning ones, like Chris, were the ones capable of such. This scale was never meant to indicate intelligence or social skills, but rather ability to literally take care of oneself, which Chris has always clearly been capable of. Its because of cases like Chris that this terminology is not used anymore. Now Autism is described as a spectrum
@Hellscap32 жыл бұрын

Then, I went back to the beginning. I binged your whole series in 3 days. Was it good for my mental or physical health? I think not. But most addictions aren't. Do I regret it? Not really... I'm already anxiously awaiting the next installment. I'm very curious to see his transition. I want to know if it's very abrupt, or just slowly happening, without anyone realizing until it's out of control. I'm autistic myself, and I'm afraid a few more missteps in my life could have easily turned me into a Christine. Not even really out of the woods yet, but... I'll use this series as encouragement to get my shit together.
